Chinese Buffet – All You Can Eat – on Rügen?

China Garten Restaurant in Bergen auf RügenAfter my first visit to the island of Rügen last year I received a question asking if there was a Chinese restaurant on the island offering a buffet, known also as “all you can eat”.

Admittedly I had not eaten at a Chinese restaurant while I had been there, and considering the fresh fish available in many places I did wonder why you would want to.  Of course, I myself went to a restaurant called Riff in Ralswiek, but when I returned to the island this summer I decided to answer the question and find out firstly how many Chinese restaurants I could find and then if any of them offered a buffet service.

Inside Oberursel’s Station

Oberursel Station May 2012Last November I had a chance to look around the newly restored station building in Oberursel.  At the time work was still going on inside the building itself.  With the exception of the service store, only the outside had been completed.

That situation has now changed and yesterday I went back to see how the rooms inside have been transformed. (more…)

New Taunus Information Centre at the Hohemark

Taunus Informationszentrum (TIZ) - front viewThe new Taunus-Informationszentrum, or TIZ for short, opened this weekend.

Located just across the road from the end of the U3 train line, it is on the grounds of what used to be… the end of the U3 train line (or tram line 24 as it used to be called) which places it at the foot of the Feldberg.

The centre combines a general information point for visitors, with a restaurant for walkers and a hands-on exhibition about the nature and geology of the Taunus area.

Inside the main reception area there is a wide selection of brochures and detailed information about the towns in the Taunus area, but also (more…)
