The Seniorentreff in Oberursel will be holding a coffee afternoon on Sunday, 20th May 2012 between 2pm and 6pm in the “Altes Hospital” (Hospitalstraße 9).
The monthly flea market in the Adenauerallee in Oberursel will take place on Saturday, 19th May, 2012 between 7am and 1pm.
The flea market starts at the end of the pedestrian zone and continues the length of the Adenauerallee and over the railway lines towards Bommersheim. One part also takes place in the Nassauer Straße next to the U-Bahn tracks.
To get there by train take either the line U3 or S5 to Oberursel’s main station.
Frankfurt International School in Oberursel is celebrating “Worldfest” on Sunday, 13th May, 2012.
Between 12pm and 4pm the school will be offering a selection of international foods, games, activities and entertainment.
To get there by train, take the U-Bahn U3 to Waldlust.
If you come by car and live locally, head for Edeka’s car park at the corner of the Hohemarkstraße and Camp-King-Allee from where the school will be laying on shuttle buses.
Visitors from further afield can take the Oberursel-Nord exit off he A661 towards the town and park on the field next to Rolls Royce (behind the U-Bahn station “Lahnstrasse” which is currently being modernised). Again, a shuttle bus service will taked visitors to the school.
There is no parking at the school itself.

Frankfurt International School
On Saturday, 12th May, 2012 there will be a tour of the area in Oberursel known as “Camp King” with local historian Manfred Kopp.
The tour covers the history of the area from the Reichssiedlungshof in the 1930s, through the time of the Dulag Luft up to the end of the U.S. Army presence in the town.
The meeting point is the Edeka car park at the corner of Camp-King-Allee at 2pm, and the tour costs 3EUR. It ends at the Kirchenladen where archive material can be viewed.
This is an interesting opportunity for local residents to learn more about the history of the area that they live in.
The nearest U-Bahn station is “Kupferhammer”.
Blood can be donated at the Red Cross in Oberursel on Saturday, 12th May, 2012 between 1.30pm and 6pm. The Red Cross is located at Marxstraße 28, opposite the U-Bahn station “Lahnstraße”.
To donate you must be healthy and between 18 and 68 years of age. If you have not donated before, then you must not be over 60. You must take some form of identification with you, such as a passport, that contains a photo.

The Dampfbahnclub-Taunus e.V. steam railway in Oberursel will be open to the public on Sunday, 13th May, 2012 between 10am and 5pm.
Located at the end of the Mainstraße, entry costs €1,50€ for adults and €0,50 for children. Children receive one ticket to go on the trains in the entry price, additional tickets are €0,50 each.
To get there, either leave the A661/B455 at “Oberursel-Nord” towards Oberursel, then take the first turning right into the Dornbachstraße. The Mainstraße is on the right-hand side.
By U-Bahn, take the U3 to Lahnstraße and cross the road before turning left into the Dornbachstraße.

A tour entitled “Das keltische Leben am Fuße des Feldbergs” (celtic life at the foot of the Feldberg) is being held on Sunday, 13th May, 2012 at 2pm.
The tour starts at the Taunus Information Centre and costs €5 per person, those taking part should have sturdy footwear.
The Seniorentreff in Oberursel will be holding a flea market and advent bazaar on Saturday, 12th May, 2012 between 9am and 1pm in the “Altes Hospital” (Hospitalstraße 9).
They will also be service coffee, tea, cold drinks, grilled sausages and home-made waffles.
The daycare organisers’ charity NEST-WERK e.V. is holding a breakfast for anyone interested in their work on Tuesday, 8th May 2012, between 9.30am and 11.30am.
The breakfast costs €3 for parents and €1.50 for children aged 5 and over. Children up to 4 years old are free. It is being held at Ackergasse 28.
Parents can use the opportunity to find out about daycare for babies and small children in the town, to meet other parents and to learn about how to earn qualifications for themselves to provide daycare for other children.

Class 6b of Oberursel’s grammar school (Gymnasium) have made it through to the weekly final of “Deutschlands beste Klasse” on the KiKa TV channel this week.
The final show will be broadcast on Friday, 4th May, 2012 at 7.30pm. Will they make to through to the grand final?
