Tuesday night cinema at Bluebox Portstraße

As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. For Tuesday, 25th March, 2014, we are told that it will be a “New German Film”. If you do want to know which film will be shown then call 06171 636930 and they will tell you.

The showing starts at 9pm.

3,000 step walk for senior citizens in Stierstadt

To take part, be at the bus stop “Altes Rathaus” in Stierstadt at 3pm.

No U-Bahn or trams in Frankfurt on Wednesday

A strike in Frankfurt will mean that no U-Bahn trains or trams will be running on Wednedsay, 19th March, 2014.  A number of bus routes are also affected.

Some of the bus drivers will also be striking on Thursday and Friday.

Oberursel in particular will be affected by the U-Bahn not running.  To get to Frankfurt the best alternative will probably be the S-Bahn S5.

Bazaar in the Liebfrauen Kindergarten

The catholic Liebfrauen Kindergarten is holding a bazaar on Sunday, 23rd March, 2014 at 10am.

On offer will be children’s toys, bicycles, prams and clothing.

The Kindergarten is located at Berliner Straße 63-65, near the U-Bahn stop “Stadtmitte”.

 

Night-time Maintenance on the U-Bahn Rails

Urgent maintenance work will be carried out on the U-Bahn track between the stations “Rosengärtchen” and “Waldlust” starting on Monday night, 17th March, 2014 and on the following three nights.

Local residents have complained about the state of the rails, so these are going to be so that a “rail-grinding” machine will be used to restore their surface.

The machine will make a certain amount of noise, although we are told it is “not comparable to a pneumatic drill”.

Zumba with Maxima at Café Portstrasse

Zumba with Maxima“Girls only” is the motto at Café Portstrasse on Sunday, 23rd March, 2014 with not only the café open from 3pm until 6pm, but also a one-hour Zumba workshop with Maxima at 3pm.

The workshop is free for girls to take part in and comfortable clothing is recommended.

Stammtisch at the Seniorentreff

The Stammtisch is a place to discuss anything and everything that those attending wish to.

Large book flea market at the library

Pile of books - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / NatikaThere will be a large book flea market in Oberursel’s library on between Wednesday, 19th and Saturday, 22nd March, 2014 with proceeds going to the library’s supporters’ association.

This market takes place on the 1st floor and has a larger selection of books than the monthly one, so there are usually foreign-language books there as well.

The opening times are:

Wednesday 10-1 & 3-6
Thursday 10-1 & 3-7
Friday 10-1 & 3-6
Saturday 10-1

The library is located at one end of the market square in Oberursel, in the Eppsteinerstraße.

The nearest car parks are “Bleiche” and in the Holzweg. The nearest train station is Altstadt (U3).

Energy saving advice

Appointments cost €5 for 30 minutes, and €2.50 for each 15 minutes after that. They need to be arranged in advance by calling 06171 502-310.
