Friday night music at Musikhalle Portstraße

On Friday, 25th September, 2015, another “Newcomer TV Night” is being held.

Doors open at 8pm for a 8.30pm start and entry costs €2.

Pumpkin Carving at the Maize Maze

Pumpkin - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / NitrThe Maislabyrinth – a maze made out of maize – will be holding a Pumkin Festival with pumkin carving for children on Sunday, 27th September, 2015.

The maze itself is open from 11am until 7pm. Entry costs €3.00 for adults, €2.50 for children aged 10 to 16 and €2.00 for children aged 4 to 9.

To get there by car, travel to the edge of Weißkirchen on the road to Steinbach. There is a track off the road near the yellow “Oberursel Stadtteil Weißkirchen” sign leading towards Frankfurt (ie. left if you have just driving through Weißkirchen, right if you are coming from Steinbach). The maze is about 200m along this track.

If you are coming by train, the nearest station “Weißkirchen-Steinbach” is on the S5 line between Frankfurt and Bad Homburg.

Green sauce and lots of herbs

Last Sunday (13th September, 2015) was a day of Green sauce and herbs at the maize maze in Weißkirchen.

Despite the bad weather, a good number of guests had come to the barn to enjoy a portion of green sauce with potatoes and eggs, whilst their children and grandchildren were playing in the maize pool or listening to the story of the Wolf and the Seven Kids be told by storyteller Angela Behrs. Energy saving advice

Appointments cost €5 for 30 minutes, and €2.50 for each 15 minutes after that. They need to be arranged in advance by calling 06171 502-310.

 

3,000 step walk for senior citizens

To take part, be at the Christuskirche in the Oberhöchstädter Straße at 3pm.

Book reading for children aged between 4 and 7

The story “Olchi-Opas krötigste Abenteuer”  by Erhard Dietl is being read in the library on Thursday, 17th September, 2015 by volunteer Edith Nikel-Ruppmann.

Tickets cost €2 and should be reserved in advance in the library or by calling 06171 62870.

Potato Day at the Maize Maze

Flea Market in the Adenauerallee

Flea Market - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / photoflorenzoThe monthly flea market in the Adenauerallee in Oberursel will take place on Saturday, 19th September 2015 between 7am and 1pm.

The flea market starts at the end of the pedestrian zone and continues the length of the Adenauerallee and over the railway lines towards Bommersheim. One part also takes place in the Nassauer Straße next to the U-Bahn tracks.

To get there by train take either the line U3 or S5 to Oberursel’s main station.
