Information evening about applying for German Citizenship

The Ausländerbeirat in Oberursel is organising an information evening about the subject of applying for German Citizenship, which will be held in the town hall (Rathaus) on Tuesday, 15th November, 2016 at 6pm.

Thomas Krämer, who works for the Regierungspräsidium in Darmstadt – the part of local Government who ultimately decides on whether citizenship will be awarded on not – will be visiting to talk on the subject and answer questions.

A number of British Citizens in the area are already applying for dual citizenship while this option is still available to them, and this will be covered in the course of the evening as well.

Anyone who would like to submit a question in advance should do so by writing an e-mail to auslaenderbeirat@oberursel.de or calling 06171 502-174 by Monday, 31st October.

  1. Darren Trebel says

Hello, are there any new developments on dual citizenship for Americans who have lived in Germany for 20 or more years, have no criminal record, have paid annual German taxes, speak very good Deutsch and have a high level of knowledge as to the functions of the various levels of German government?

  2. As far as I know Germany only allows dual citizenship with a very small number of nationalities outside the and nothing on that has changed. But the information evening would be a good chance to ask what the latest situation is, so I would recommend submitting the question by e-mail before next Monday so that it can be answered.
