Bus drivers to strike in Oberursel on Wednesday

The Stadtwerke have informed us that the bus drivers in Oberursel will be on strike on Wednesday, 11th January, 2017.

None of their bus services will be running, including any of the school services, ie. on routes 41 – 49 and n31.

The follow regional bus services are not affected: 50, 51, 57, 59, 60, 61, 62, 63, 64, 65, 68, 69, 80, 81, 82, 83, 84, 85, 86 and n34.

According to the RMV, route 252 will probably not be running and a reduced service will be operating on routes X26, X27, 251 and 261.

Breakfast Cinema at Bluebox Portstrasse

As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. For Sunday, 15th January, 2017, we are told that it will be a British film. If you do want to know which film will be shown or to reserve tickets call 06171 636930.

The showing starts at 11.30am and they are located opposite the U-Bahn stop “Altstadt”.

On Friday, 13th January 2017, another “Newcomer TV Night” is being held.

Doors open at 8pm for a 8.30pm start and entry costs €2.

Donate Blood

Blood - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / iqonceptBlood can be donated at the Red Cross in Oberursel on Friday, 13th January 2017 between 3.30pm and 8pm. The Red Cross is located at Marxstraße 28, opposite the U-Bahn station “Lahnstraße”.

To donate you must be healthy and between 18 and 68 years of age. If you have not donated before, then you must not be over 60. You must take some form of identification with you, such as a passport, that contains a photo.

When the UK leaves the European Union, I’ll be staying in Oberursel

‘On 23rd June voters in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland decided in favour leaving the European Union, the so-called “Brexit”.’

How often have I read these words in the past half year, or even written them myself?  I wrote them in July for the Oberurseler Woche and again later in the year in a slightly different form to report on a information evening about German citizenship.  I have used similar words on my blog and I have given interviews about the referendum to the Taunus Zeitung and Frankfurter Rundschau.    But having reported and answered questions about the facts, there remains a personal side to the issue.  My story, as a British Citizen living in Oberursel. To take part, be at the “Altes Rathaus” (Urselbachstraße 59) at 9.30am.

For Tuesday, 10th January 2017, we are told that it will be a filmed piece of literature. If you do want to know which film will be shown then call 06171 636930 and they will tell you.
