Kamishibai Theatre performance at the library

A Kabishibai Theatre performance for children aged 3 and over will take place in Oberursel’s library on Saturday, 4th March, 2017 at 11am.

“Kabishibai” is Japanese and means “paper drama”.  A story is told using a small stage and pictures on cards inserted into it.

The story on Saturday is “Willie hilft mit”.

The performance will last about 45 minutes and tickets costing €2 each are available at the library or by calling 06171 62870.

Book flea market at the library

The library is located at one end of the market square in Oberursel, in the Eppsteinerstraße.

The nearest car parks are “Bleiche” and in the Holzweg. The nearest train station is Altstadt (U3).

Take a tour of Oberursel’s old town

The Bleiche in Oberursels old townA tour of the old town (Altstadt) part of Oberursel is being offered on Saturday, 4th March 2017 at 2pm.

The tour starts in front of the Vortaunusmuseum at the Marktplatz at 2pm and costs €3 per person.

Breakfast Buffet at the Seniorentreff

The Seniorentreff in the “Altes Hospital” (Hospitalstraße 9) will be holding a breakfast buffet on Friday, 3rd March 2017 between 9am and 11am.

To take part, register in advance by calling 06171 585333 and leave a message on the answerphone if necessary by Tuesday the week before.

Oberursel’s Carnival Procession – Sunday, 26th February, 2017

Sunday afternoon sees the annual carnival procession take place in Oberursel, with the usual number of large crowds expected.

The procession will form in the Altkönigstraße and then leave from “Am Rahmtor” at 2.11pm before crossing the Marktplatz and entering the Eppsteiner Str.

On reaching the “Homm-Kreisel” it will turn into the Holzweg and cross the Epinayplatz before entering the Henchenstraße, at the end of which it will turn into the Liebfrauenstraße. [Read more…]

3,000 step walk for senior citizens in Stierstadt

To take part, be at the bus stop “Altes Rathaus” in Stierstadt at 3pm.

Having successfully taken over the town hall last Saturday, Prince Rüdiger I. moved into the Mayor’s office on Monday where he intends to run things until Ash Wednesday.

Tuesday night cinema at Bluebox Portstraße

As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. For Tuesday, 28th February 2017, we are told that it will be an animal adventure. If you do want to know which film will be shown then call 06171 636930 and they will tell you.

The showing starts at 9pm.

Having taken over the town hall in Oberursel on Saturday, Prince Rüdiger I. and his entourage visited Fritten-Toni for a bite of curried sausage and chips.
