Traffic lights damaged in accident

A black BMW being driven by an 18-year-old was travelling along the Frankfurter Landstraße on Saturday, 29th July, 2017 at 11.41pm.  On turning into the Homburger Landstraße the car for some unknown reason ended up travelling towarsds the middle of the road and in doing so hit the traffic lights.  These were pulled out of their anchorage, causing €13,000 of damage.

Accident on wet road

On Tuesday, 25th July, 2017 at 5.10pm a 26-year-old driver was travelling in his BMW 3 series along the Niederstedter Straße towards Bad Homburg, when he came of the road at a curve.  The road was wet and according to police he failed to adjust his speed.

The car hit a tree, leaving the driver injured.  He was taken to hospital in an ambulance.  The car is a write-off, with the damage estimated at €2.500.

 

Car damaged in the Weilstraße

A black BMW has been damaged sometime between Friday, 21st July 11pm and Saturday, 22nd July, 2017, 6.50pm.

The car was parked on the left-hand-side of the Weilstraße in front of house number 22.  The rear bumper was damaged, although police do not know how it happened as the driver who caused the accident left without leaving their details.

Police are now asking for witnesses to call them on 06171 62400.

B456 closed this morning, one dead

The B456 road connecting Oberursel with Bad Homburg was closed this morning, Tuesday, 4th July, 2017, after an accident.
A 73-year-old man from Hanau was driving his BMW towards Dornholzhausen when, near the Oberstedten exit, he hit the oncoming traffic, first hitting a VW driven by a 60-year-old man. The VW hit the crash barrier and bounced back onto the road.
Meanwhile the BMW continued on the left-hand side of the road and hit another VW, driven by a 26-year-old woman from Bad Homburg, head on. Both drivers were stuck in their vehicles and had to be freed by the emergency services.
The 73-year-old was unconscious at the scene and later died in hospital. The 26-year-old was taken to hospital with serious injuries, although these are not said to be life-threatening.
Three ambulances, two emergency doctors and a number of police and the fire brigade all attended. The road was closed from 7am until 9.30am, causing a considerable amount of traffic to travel through Bad Homburg instead.

Cars windows damaged

On the night of the 22nd March, 2016, a BMW in the Wiesenaustraße, a Ford Galaxy in the “Kleine Schmieh” and a Mercedes E-Class were either broken into or an attempt was made.

In each case those responsible forced one of the side windows in an attempt to cause them to shatter.

Nothing was stolen from the vehicles, but the damage is estimated at €2,000.

Car damaged on supermarket car park – witnesses sought

A 54-year-old driver of a blue BMW returned to his parked car in a supermarket car park in the Zimmersmühlenweg to discover scratches on the rear right-hand side bumper.

The car had been parked between 12.30pm and 1.30pm in the car park on Saturday, 18th January, 2014 and the cost of the damage is put at 700EUR.

As the person who caused the damage left without dealing with it, police in Oberursel are asking for witnesses to come forward and call them on 06171 62400.

BMW came off the Kanonenstrasse

A 40-year-old woman from near Weilburg was travelling along the “Kanonenstsraße” in a BMW just before 1am on Thursday, 9th January, 2014.  At the 6.9km mark in one of the curves, the car left the road and rolled over, landing in a ditch.  The driver suffered head injuries and was taken to hospital.

Accident investigators discovered that the driver was under the influence of a considerable amount of alcohol and did not have a driving license.  A blood sample was taken, and the damage is estimated at around €10,000.

More Sat Navs stolen in Oberstedten

A number of cars were broken into in Oberstedten on the night of the 18th/19th November, 2013, and according to police the targets seem to have been the satellite navigation devices.

The cars were located in the Grenzstraße (BMW and Mercedes), Bussardweg (BMW), Dornholzhäuser Straße (BMW) and Lindenbergweg (BMW).  Almost all of the cars had had their rear triangular window smashed.

Other cars in that night suffering the same fate were parked in the Kastanienweg and Oberhöchstadter Straße.

The total damage is estimated at €25,000.

Satnav Systems stolen

A number of cars where broken into in Oberstedten on the night of 2nd/3rd November, 2013, apparently with the intention of stealing satellite navigation systems.

The cars include: a BMW in the Bussardweg, another in the Goldgrubenstraße, two more in the Edith-Stein-Weg, another one in the Buchenweg, and both a BMW and a Mercedes in the Bergweg.

The thieves opened the cars either by cracking the locks or breaking one of the side windows.  The total damage is estimated at around €30,000.

Cars in Oberstedten broken into

On the night between the 8th and 9th of October, 2013, at least 5 cars were broken into in Oberstedten with the intention of stealing the satellite navigation systems.

The cars – BMW and Mercedes – were parked in the Bussardweg, Fichtenstraße and Buchenweg.  Two of the cars had their locks picked, the others had side windows smashed.  The total damage is estimated at €15,000.
