Huts at allotments broken into

On the night of 21st/22nd October, 2013, at least four garden huts were broken into at the allotments “In den Kreuzhecken”.

According to police the only thing that appears to have been stolen was a bar of chocolate.  However the damaged caused is estimated to be worth €300.

School building broken into in Stierstadt

On the night of the 19th/20th July, 2013, thieves broke into both the IGS school in Stierstadt and the Geschwister-Scholl-Schule in Steinbach.

It is not believed that anything was stolen, but in both cases considerable damage was caused – several hundred Euro at IGS and around €7,000 in Steinbach.

Break-in at the Vortaunusmuseum

The Vortaunusmuseum at the Marktplatz in OberurselThe workshop at the Vortaunusmuseum was broken into on Thursday morning, 11th July, 2013.

According to police the thief or thieves made their way into the building using the entrance on  the inner courtyard and from their to the workshop where they stole a metal case containing a rotary cutter (“router”) and accessories.

Church office broken into

The church office of the St. Ursula community was broken into on the night of Saturday 15th / Sunday 16th June, 2013.  Thieves forced open the entrance to the building, causing around €1,000 of damage here alone.  According to police they then searched the building for valuables and discovered a safe which they took with them.  The safe contained cash, although the police report does not state how much was in the safe at the time.

Break-in at jewellers in the Holzweg

A jewellers shop in the Holzweg was broken into early on Tuesday morning with the thieves making off with gold jewellery.

Although police say the jewellery were in fact “dummies”, the damage is still given as several thousand Euro.

They believe that the thieves broke in by making a hole in the glass door with a sledge hammer.

Whilst they are still evaluating the video evidence, detectives in Bad Homburg would like to hear from anyone who was in the Holzweg between 3.30am and 4am on Tuesday morning and may have seen anything suspicious.  They can be reached by telephone on 06172 1200.

 

Break-in at office caused more damage than loss

A break-in at an office in the street “In der Au” over the course of last weekend (19th-21st April, 2013) caused around €1,000 of damage.

According to police the thieves entered the building through a window in the basement before trying to open a safe.

When that failed they appear to have left with just a pair of gloves worth €1.99.

 

Bakery in the Vorstadt broken into

A bakery in the “Vorstadt” was broken into at around half past ten last Saturday night (6th April, 2013).

However the strange noises coming from the bakery caught the attention of one of the neighbours, who went out into his garden and saw the three thieves coming out of the back door of the backery.  When they noticed him, they fled.

According to police, two of them ran off but one hid between parts of the building.  Another neighbour found him and between them the two witnesses were able to hold onto him until the police arrived.

On inspecting the building the police discovered that the door to the bakery had been forced open, as had a safe inside the building.  The damage is estimated at around €500, although it is believed that nothing had been taken.

The instrument believed to have been used to force the door open was later found in the garden and the search for the two accomplices continues.

Witness spots potential vandals at swimming pool

An observant member of the public reported two men to police who were behaving strangely within the grounds of the swimming pool in Oberursel last Saturday evening (6th April, 2013).

Both of the men had rucksacks with them and as police approached them, they fled.  The police officers were, however, able to catch up with one of them them and on searching the 17-year-old’s rucksack they found graffiti spray cans and alcohol.

A search of the grounds then found evidence of an attempted break-in on one of the doors, along with a metal bar which police presume to have been used in the attempt.

The teenager was arrested and the investigation is ongoing.

 

Break-in at the Taunus Information Centre

The restaurant at the Taunus Information Centre (Taunus-Informations-Zentrum) was broken into on the night between Easter Sunday and Easter Monday.  According to police nothing was stolen, but considerable damage was caused.

 

School broken into in the Zimmersmühlenweg

A school in the Zimmersmühlenweg was broken into last weekend between Friday 22nd and Monday 25th of March (2013).

The culprits broke a window and then entered the building looking for items of value.  In one of the rooms they found a safe which was fixed to a wall.  Although they were unable to open it they caused around €500 of damage.
