Intoxicated cyclist injured in accident

A cyclist was injured in an accident at 1.50am on Wednesday, 2nd August, 2017.  The 25-year-old from Ireland was travelling along the Lenaustraße towards the Hauffstraße when they lost control of their bike and fell.  They were taken to hospital by ambulance.

A breath test revealed that their blood alcohol content to be around 2 parts per thousand.  By comparison, the normal legal limit for driving a car in Germany is 0.5 parts per thousand.

The bicycle was undamaged.

Cyclist hurt on the Nassauer Straße

A 46-year-old cyclist from Dietzenbach was hurt on the Nassauer Straße on Saturday, 21st September, 2013.

She had been travelling along the Homburger Landstraße, but when she came to the Nassauer Straße she decided to ride on the pavement which is not allowed at this point.

However, as she tried to ride up the curb she fell onto the road into the path of a VW car.

The damage to the car and the bicycle is estimated to be only €200, but the cyclist was injured and taken to the hospital in Bad Homburg for further checks.

Cyclist looking for witnesses to accident

A cyclist involved in an accident on the Füllerstraße is looking for witnesses to an accident in order to help police find the person responsible.

The accident took place on Tuesday, 18th June, 2013 at 6pm, when the driver of a white A5 changed lanes, forcing the cyclist to stop abruptly and fall.

The cyclist had to be taken to hospital where he spent almost two weeks recovering.

Despite another driver who saw the accident sounding their horn and trying to make the Audi driver aware of what had happened, they drove off leaving the cyclist behind.

Cyclist caused accident crossing road

A 52-year-old cyclist decided to cross the Nassauer Straße by pushing his bicycle last Saturday lunchtime (7th September, 2013).

Unfortunately, according to police he did not consider the traffic on the road, causing drivers to drive and swerve to avoid him.  This resulted in two cars colliding with each other.

The cyclist continued on his way regardless, however someone from one of the cars involved was able to catch up with him and keep him at the scene until the police arrived.

No-one was injured but the damage is estimated at around €3,800.

Pensioner oversaw U-Bahn

A 86-year-old cyclist was travelling along the Freiligrathstraße from the Feldbergstraße towards the Herzbergstraße and had to cross the U-Bahn tracks.  At this point there is a pedestrian crossing which according to police was showing red.

Apparently the man did not notice the U-Bahn which was passing at the time and hit the side of the last carriage.  He was slightly injured and 50 Euro of damage was caused to the bicycle.

The line was closed for 35 minutes during which time a replacement service was set up.

Cyclist attacked between Oberhöchstadt and Oberursel

On Monday, 15th October, 2012 at around 2.45pm, a 46 year old woman from Oberhöchstadt was cycling along the cycle path from the “Waldsiedlung” towards Oberursel on her mountain bike, when she noticed a man on a mountain bike approaching her from behind.

When he was level with her, he grabbed the strap of her rucksack so hard, that she fell to the ground and injured herself.  The man continued to pull on the rucksack and once he had pulled it free he fled towards Stierstadt.

The man is described as follows: North African appearance, 20-25 years old, slim, 175-180cm tall, short dark hair and a long nose.  He was wearing a black jacket with a hood, faded blue jeans and white trainers.  His mountain bike was blue and red with large letters on the frame.

The rucksack contained over €200 in cash, ID card and a monthly RMV ticket.

Cyclist seriously injured on the Hohemarkstraße

A 68 year old cyclist from Bad Homburg was seriously injured on the Hohemarkstraße on Tuesday evening.

According to police he was riding on the cycle path uphill near house number 83, heading for “Im Heidegraben”, when for some unknown reason he suddenly moved onto the main road.

He was hit by a Ford Focus which was travelling parallel to him at the time, driven by a 26 year old.

As a result of the collection the cyclist suffered severe head injuries and was treated at the scene by a doctor before being taken by ambulance to the accident clinic in Frankfurt.

The car suffered considerable damage and the bicycle is a write-off, with the total damage estimated at around €7,000.

The Hohemarkstraße was closed in both directions for about half an hour.
