Germania’s spring festival put the youth at the forefront

Visitors to the Gesangverein Germania‘s spring festival at the sports hall in Weißkirchen last weekend, may have noticed some chances to how things have been in previous years.  The festival had undergone a regeneration, starting with the decorations int he hall.  Instead of flowers on the stage, there were colourful luftballons displaying emojis.

The musical programme consisted mainly of the younger groups, with the male and female choirs not singing invidually, but only as the mixed choir.  Outside there were hotdogs instead of Bratwursts, there was a table for the children to draw at, a treasure hunt and hook-a-duck.

It was the “Rotkehlchen” group that started the day’s music, conducted by Eike O. Müller.  Both of their songs were about food.  First they sang “Das ist der Gummibär”, and followed it with an audience-participation song: “Obstsalat” (fruit salad).  The audience were asked to join in with the actions, cutting up apples, oranges and bananas. Gesangverein Germania 1873 advent concert

Musical notes - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / snehitdesignThe Gesangverein Germania 1873 in Weißkirchen will be holding an Advent concert on Sunday, 16th December, 2012 at 6.30pm in the St.Crutzen Church in Weißkirchen.

German and International Christmas songs will be sung by “Die Tontauben”, the Frauenchor and the youth choir “Sound Up!”, with guest appearances by “CanTaunus” and the harp group “Trio Del’ Arpa”.

Entry is free but a donation is requested.

Gesangverein Germania 1873 spring and jubilee festival

Musical notes - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / vlastasThe Gesangverein Germania 1873 in Weißkirchen will be celebrating not only their spring festival on Saturday, 5th May, 2012, but also the 40th anniversary of their children’s choir and the 30th anniversary of their youth choir.

The festival starts at 2pm and is being held at the Turnhalle in the Oberurseler Straße in Weißkirchen.

During the afternoon, each of the choirs in the club will be performing.  Entry is free, but a donation is requested.
