Last day for Kern’s Geflügel after 40 years at the Market

After 40 years of serving fresh poultry and eggs at the market twice a week in Oberursel, Saturday morning marked the end of an era for Anke Gonidec-Kern and Kern’s Geflügel when she opened up her trailer for the last time.

In fact, Frau Gonidec-Kern took the stand over from her parents, making it a total of 60 years that her family have been coming to the market.  Now she is giving up the business on health grounds.

On the last day there were plenty of customers who came to the stand to buy their eggs and meat for the last time and just before 10am the mayor (Hans-Georg Brum) arrived with the city manager (Wolfgang Bräutigam) and market manager (Marlen Pauly) to present Frau Gonidec-Kern with a bouqet of flowers.
