This morning, Saturday, 10th June, 2017, the Äppelparkbrunnen in Oberstedten, opposite the new Rewe supermarket, was inaugurated by Fountain Queen Ann-Kathrin I. and her Brunnenmeister Rainer, who were accompanied by a number of their predecessors.
The musikhalle portstrasse is holding a “Friday night Jam Session” on Friday, 16th June, 2017, at 8pm.
Entry is free.
The “musikhalle” is located opposite the U-Bahn station “Altstadt” on the U3 line.
The 2017 Brunnenfest was officially opened by Fountain Queen Ann-Kathrin I., her Brunnenmeister Rainer, and Mayor Hans-Georg Brum this evening:
A 3,000 step walk for senior citizens is taking place in Weißkirchen on Wednesday, 14th June 2017.
To take part, be at the “Altes Rathaus” (Urselbachstraße 59) at 9.30am.
This weekend sees one of the largest festivals in Oberursel take place – the fountain festival or Brunnenfest.
The event kicks off on Friday evening at 5.30pm with an open-air church service at the Marktplatz followed by the official opening with Fountain Queen Ann-Kathrin I.
Other highlights include the inauguration of the new “Äppelpark” Fountain on Saturday morning in Oberstedten (opposite the new Rewe) at 11am and the 5, 10 and 21.1km festival runs on Sunday morning at 10am.
For children up to the age of 10 the Kindermeile will be in the Obere Hainstraße on Saturday between 3pm and 6pm and the annual duck race on the Urselbach will be held on Sunday at 3pm with tickets being sold on Saturday in the Weidengasse.
Saturday evening there will also be a talent show for the town’s youth to show what they can do from 5pm until 7pm. The show is aptly named “Kickfactor: … and what can you do?”
A children’s disco with face painting is being held in the Ackergasse on Sunday starting at 2pm.
The fun fair is in its usual place on the Bleiche car park as is the craft market in front of the town hall, with the closing fireworks taking place at 10.30pm on Monday evening. [Read more…]
Tuesday night is film night at Bluebox Portstraße, located near the U-Bahn stop “Altstadt”.
As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. For Tuesday, 13th June 2017, we are told that it will be a tragic comedy. If you do want to know which film will be shown then call 06171 636930 and they will tell you.
The showing starts at 9pm.

To take part, be at the bus stop “Altes Rathaus” in Stierstadt at 3pm.
The indoor pool at the TaunaBad is to close for maintenance work to be carried out from Wednesday, 7th June, 2017, until the end of the outdoor pool season which is usually around the middle of September.
During this time the water will also be drained from the pools allowing them to be cleaned.
The outdoor pool remains open Monday to Friday 6.30am to 8pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 8am until 8pm. On particularly hot days these times may be extended at short notice. The other indoor facilities such as the changing rooms and showers are not affected by the closure.
Oberursel’s outdoor pool, the “Freibad”, was opened 80 years ago in June 1937. Originally called the “Schwimm-, Licht- und Luftbad”, the buildung work took three years to complete. But it was a long way from the original concept in 1862 until the town made the funds available in 1928 and approved for the water to be taken from the town’s fountains. Before the swimming pool was built, the site was a gravel pit.
