Last night we had 20-30cm of fresh snow fall – I even used the bus to get to my appointment this morning as the cars are snowed it on the car park!

Viele Länder sind bekannt für ihre Straßenhändler, die ihrem Strand entlang alles zwischen Uhren und Sonnencreme verkaufen.
Puerto del Carmen hat eine andere Art von Händler – die Blinkspielzeugverkäuferinnen.
Nachdem es dunkel geworden ist, preisen sie ahnungslosen Familien um den Hafen herum ihre Ware an die hell in allen Farben blinkt, in der Hoffnung, dass die kleinen Kinder so fasziniert sind und die Eltern im Urlaub nicht “nein” sagen möchten.
Einer der Tricks ist, das kleine Kind dazu zu bekommen, dass es das Spielzeug in die Hand nimmt, denn das macht es den Eltern viel schwerer zu vermeiden, für das Spielzeug bezahlen zu müssen.
Ein beliebter Platz scheint der Spielplatz in der Nähe des Boulesplatzes zu sein.
Hier mögen sie kein Nein als Antwort akzeptieren – egal in welcher Sprache!

Many countries are renowned for their street traders selling anything from watches to sun block along their beaches.
Puerto del Carmen has a different type of trader – the flashing toy merchants.
They prey on unsuspecting families around the harbour after dark, their wares flashing away in bright colours, in the hope that the small children will be so fascinated that their parents will be unwilling to say „no“ on holiday.
One of the tricks it to get a small child to actually take the toy, making it even harder for the parents to avoid having to pay for it.
A favourite spot seems to be the playground near to the boules. Here they do not like taking no for an answer – in any language!
