Britisches Essen mit dem Restauranttester

Am letzten Montag war Christian Rach, der RTL Restauranttester, bei einem britischen Landsmann zum Besuch – Mike Cox vom Britannia Inn in Bad Berleburg bei Siegen.

Neben der Umgestaltung des “Garagenraums” wurden auch moderne britische Gerichte kreiert, die sowohl dem Britannia Inn als auch dem verbundenen “Mike’s Food Garage” eine neue Chance geben sollen in dem Sie die Gäste aus Deutschland hereinlocken.

Wer die Sendung verpasst hat, kann sie nochmal sehen und zwar am kommenden Sonntag, den 15. Januar 2012 um 16.45 auf RTL.

Burger King and ADAC extend their offer by a further year

The ADAC offer, announced on a tray insert in Burger KingBurger King and ADAC in Germany have extended their co-operation in participating restaurants by a further year.

ADAC members who show their membership card when ordering receive a discount of 1 Euro on “King Menus”.  This cannot be combined with any other offers.

The tray inserts currently show that the offer is valid until 31.12.2012.

DNS-Changer – how to test your computer

There appears to have been an increase in attacks on private computers in recent weeks, and in some cases even a good virus scanner has not been able to block them.  Yesterday we learnt about a new threat called “DNS-Changer”.  This is what you need to know:

DNS is short for “Domain Name System” and is like a telephone directory for the internet.  When you visit a website, the address of that site is turned into the numeric address – the IP address – by a DNS server.  Your computer then uses the number to contact the site.  Cymeradwyo, for example, runs on IP address 85.214.111.207.

The DNS servers for computers in private households are usually run by the internet providers such as T-Online.

But what would happen if instead of asking your internet provider for the IP address, your computer asked a different DNS server?  If this server gave and incorrect answer, the computer would pull up the wrong page.  Now if that page look different to the one you were expecting, then you would notice.  But what if it looks identical?
