Here’s one way to collect glass bottles without annoying the neighbours too much: put the bottle bank underground.
This one is in the Camp-King-Allee in Oberursel. The containers are underground, and the holes to put the bottles through are colour-coded and even have rubber flaps on them to stop pieces of glass flying back out again.
