The Christmas Pyramid in Oberursel

There may not be a Christmas market in Oberursel this year, as is the case in most towns in Germany, but there is one consolation: the Christmas Pyramid.
The pyramid was first created in 1997 and shows a nativity scene. It is situated in the middle of a roundabout and is built around a fountain. The figures were carved by a local artist, and local tradespeople look after them from year to year, before setting up the figures and the lighting in time for the Thursday before Advent, when normally the Christmas Market would open.
Dealing with Corona in Oberursel

With many events cancelled due to Corona, three people in Oberursel have come up with an idea to make the most of the summer as safely as possible.
Thomas Fiehler, Danny Franklin and Thomas Studanski have arranged for a beer garden – with wine and food – to open on the Rathausplatz in front of the town hall, Thursdays to Saturdays from 4pm to 10pm.
There is no music, just someone to go and sit, drink and eat, with the Jürgen Ponto Fountain providing a water slide for children to play on. The number of people allowed in depends on whether they are couple, families or groups, to allow for social distancing at the tables.
The beer garden was officially opened this evening, 23rd July 2020, by the new fountain queen Verena I.
