Camp King Festival

Yesterday the Monday Podcast visited the Camp King Festival – a market of possibilities!

The day started with an open-air church service, presented by Cornelia Synek (ev.), Rebecca Müller (ev.) and Jan Klementowski (kath.) – accompanied by the brass band of the Bommersheim fire brigade.

Afterwards, the various stalls provided food, drink, and things for children to do such as sack races, balloon modelling and badge making.

We took a look around and tried out some of the activities ourselves. Listen to the podcast to find out more:

Visiting the trains – the Dampf-Bahn-Club Taunus

Yesterday the Monday Podcast visited the DBC Taunus grounds in Oberursel to see the model railway that they have built up over the last 30 years.

We spoke to the chairman, Matthias Zundel, and took a ride behind one of the steam trains.

Oberurseler Brunnenfest

This weekend is Brunnenfest in Oberursel (“fountain festival”). It covers most of the inner town from the market place to the fairground near the Portstraße. There are merry-go-rounds, fairground-type games and lots of places to eat and drink.

There are also special events, such as the “Childrens Mile” (Kindermeile), which took place on Saturday afternoon. These are games especially for children, all in one road. In the evening there is live music from various different bands.

What struck me was that whilst the price of the rides and the food was normally quite reasonable, the drinks were expensive. A coke cost 3,30EUR plus 2EUR deposit for the glass!

We will be talking more about this tomorrow in The Monday Podcast.
