Lanzarote Guidebook – Spring 2011

The Spring edition of the Lanzarote Guidebook is now available as a free download and is now over 100 pages long!

Covering the months March, April and May, the guidebook has been expanded to included a new “Food and Drink” section, listing a selection of restaurants and bodegas on the island.

The book also includes a large number of full-page photos, to get you looking forward to your next holiday!

Upgrading the train stations

A train at the Rosengärtchen stop in OberurselFor the past few years the stations along the U3 line from Frankfurt to Oberursel have one-by-one been re-built.

The main reasons for this have been modernisation.  The station at the end of the line had been just a provisional platform due to the line being shortened, and new signalling and information displays were installed.

Another was to add more capacity to the system, as many of the older stations had a maximum length of 50m, which equates to four carriages.  Now all platforms are 75m long for the six-carriage trains that run on weekdays.

But one of the most important reasons in my opinion was to make all of the stations “barrierefrei”, ie. to make the platform the same height as the floor of the train. [Read more…]

Burger King offer for ADAC members

Burger King in Germany are currently offering members of ADAC a discount of 1 Euro on their “King Menus”.  All you have to do is show your ADAC membership card when ordering.

The offer cannot be combined with other offers, and I do not know if every branch is taking part, or how long the offer is on for.  But with student membership currently starting at 19 Euros per year, if it runs long enough then I am sure that for some, the membership may pay for itself!
