An accident in the early hours of Sunday morning (8th July) caused damage to a car and a small van estimated at around €7,500.
The driver of the car, a 36-year-old Moroccan, was unable to control the vehicle which crossed onto the other side of the road and headed towards the van. The driver of the van swerved to avoid a front-on collision, but the vehicles came into contact while passing.
As the driver of the car smelled of alcohol, a breathalyser test was carried out which showed a blood alcohol content of 3.36 parts per thousand, as a result of which he was taken to the police station in Oberursel where a blood sample was taken and his driving license confiscated.
