Book reading for children aged between 4 and 7

Book flea market at the library

The library is located at one end of the market square in Oberursel, in the Eppsteinerstraße.

The nearest car parks are “Bleiche” and in the Holzweg. The nearest train station is Altstadt (U3).

Take a tour of Oberursel’s old town

The tour starts in front of the Vortaunusmuseum at the Marktplatz at 2pm and costs €3 per person.

Children’s cinema in the Portstrasse

As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. If you do want to know which film will be shown then call 06171 636930 and they will tell you.

The bluebox is located opposite the U-Bahn station “Altstadt” (formerly “Portstraße”).

 

Tyre thieves caught in Frankfurt

Two men are accused of stealing a complete set of tyres from an Audi A5 in the early hours of Monday morning (25th January, 2016) in the Mauerfeldstraße in Weißkirchen.  The car was left on wooden blocks.

A witness spotted the theft take place at around 1.15am and called the police.  A short time later, a similar theft was reported in nearby Königstein, with the vehicle used to transport the tyres fitting the description of the one from Weißkirchen.  Armed with the registration number, police were able to look for it specifically and found it in Frankfurt in the Rebstock area at 2am.

The vehicle, a silver van, contained two sets of high-value tyres, one of which was the set from the Mauerfeldstraße.  The two suspects, aged 39 and 45, were arrested.  Both are of no fixed abode and were presented to the custody judge the same afternoon.

Police called to fight between Asylum Seekers

Police were called to the asylum seekers’ home in the Karl-Herrmann-Flach-Straße on Tuesday evening (26th January, 2016) after a fight broke out between two of the residents.

It is unclear why the fight broke out, and the two residents had been sharing a room.  According to police, one hit the other in the face with a saucepan, who retaliated by hitting the first resident on the head with the handle of a kitchen knife.

Both were taken to hospital but later released.  Both now face a criminal prosecution.

The showing starts at 9pm.

A celtic funeral pileA tour for families around the area of the celtic settlement near Oberursel is being held on Sunday, 31st January, 2016 at 2pm.

The tour starts at the Taunus Information Centre and costs €3 each for adults and €1 each for children.  Those taking part should have sturdy footwear.
