Bingo at the Seniorentreff

Anyone who is interested is invited to come along and try their luck!

Energy saving advice

Appointments cost €5 for 30 minutes, and €2.50 for each 15 minutes after that. They need to be arranged in advance by calling 06171 502-310.

3,000 step walk for senior citizens

To take part, be at the Christuskirche in the Oberhöchstädter Straße at 3pm.

A cold and wet fountain festival (Brunnenfest)

The fountain festival (Brunnenfest) in Oberursel stands a good chance of being remembered for its weather.  Not only for the wet Sunday, but for the cold and at times damp weather on Friday evening or Saturday afternoon.  In particular, it may well go down in the history of the festival as the one where snow lay on the Feldberg, with sub-zero temperatures in parts of the Taunus in Friday morning.

But for some, Fountain Queen Annabel I. in particular, the weather was not going to spoil the weekend and she cheerily opened the festival on Friday evening accompanied by pageant queens from other towns, who she took on a tour of the Strackgasse to see her parents’ house.

The sun even came out for her to officially inaugurate “her” fountain – the stork fountain (Storchenbrunnen) – which is located on one side of the Maasgrundweiher, accompanied by her Brunnenmeister and an honorary guard from Ursellis Historica. [Read more…]

Take a look inside the tower of St.Ursula’s Church

St.Ursula's Church Tower in OberurselThe tower of St.Ursula’s Church in Oberursel will be open to the public on Saturday, 1st June, 2013 between 3pm and 5pm.

The tower contains a museum, the belfry and there is also access to the roof where you can get a breathtaking view across the town and its neighbours.

Entry costs €1.50 for adults and €1.00 for children.

 

Book flea market at the library

The library is located at one end of the market square in Oberursel, in the Eppsteinerstraße.

The nearest car parks are “Bleiche” and in the Holzweg. The nearest train station is Altstadt (U3).

Take a tour of Oberursel’s old town

The tour starts in front of the Vortaunusmuseum at the Marktplatz at 2pm and costs €3 per person.

Tuesday night cinema at Bluebox Portstraße

As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. For Tuesday, 28th May, 2013, we are told that it will be a “fantasy drama”. If you do want to know which film will be shown then call 06171 636930 and they will tell you.

The showing starts at 9pm.

A tour of Camp King

The Kinderhaus - previously Haus Florida, Haus 997, Haus am Wald and Außerhalb 7 - now Jean-Sauer-Weg 2On Saturday, 1st June, 2013 there will be a tour of the area in Oberursel known as “Camp King” with local historian Manfred Kopp.

The tour covers the history of the area from the Reichssiedlungshof in the 1930s, through the time of the Dulag Luft up to the end of the U.S. Army presence in the town.

The meeting point is at the “Kinderhaus” in the Jean-Sauer-Weg at 2pm, and the tour costs 3EUR.

This is an interesting opportunity for local residents to learn more about the history of the area that they live in.
