Book flea market at the library

The library is located at one end of the market square in Oberursel, in the Eppsteinerstraße.

The nearest car parks are “Bleiche” and in the Holzweg. The nearest train station is Altstadt (U3).

Take a look inside the tower of St.Ursula’s Church

St.Ursula's Church Tower in OberurselThe tower of St.Ursula’s Church in Oberursel will be open to the public on Saturday, 4th July, 2015 between 3pm and 5pm.

The tower contains a museum, the belfry and there is also access to the roof where you can get a breathtaking view across the town and its neighbours.

Entry costs €1.50 for adults and €1.00 for children.

 

Energy saving advice

Energy Saving Calculator - ©iStockphoto.com/alexslThe Verbraucherzentrale (consumers’ association) will be offering individual energy saving consultations in the Rathaus in Oberursel on Thursday, 2nd July, 2015.

Appointments cost €5 for 30 minutes, and €2.50 for each 15 minutes after that. They need to be arranged in advance by calling 06171 502-310.

Tuesday night cinema at Bluebox Portstraße

As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. For Tuesday, 30th June, 2015, we are told that it will be a “tragic comedy”. If you do want to know which film will be shown then call 06171 636930 and they will tell you.

The showing starts at 9pm.

This market takes place on the 1st floor and has a larger selection of books than the monthly one, so there are usually foreign-language books there as well.

The opening times are:

Wednesday 10-1 & 3-6
Thursday 10-1 & 3-7
Friday 10-1 & 3-6
Saturday 10-1

With less than a week to go until voters decide on who they want to be the Mayor in Oberursel, it’s time to start making up my mind who I want to vote for.

A tour of Camp King

The Kinderhaus - previously Haus Florida, Haus 997, Haus am Wald and Außerhalb 7 - now Jean-Sauer-Weg 2On Saturday, 20th June, 2015 there will be a tour of the area in Oberursel known as “Camp King” with local town guide Silvia Struck.

The tour covers the history of the area from the Reichssiedlungshof in the 1930s, through the time of the Dulag Luft up to the end of the U.S. Army presence in the town.

The meeting point is at the “Kinderhaus” in the Jean-Sauer-Weg at 2pm, and the tour costs 3EUR.

This is an interesting opportunity for local residents to learn more about the history of the area that they live in.

Find out how the Celts lived in Oberursel – family tour

A celtic funeral pileA tour for families around the area of the celtic settlement near Oberursel is being held on Sunday, 21st June, 2015 at 2pm.

The tour starts at the Taunus Information Centre and costs €3 each for adults and €1 each for children.  Those taking part should have sturdy footwear.
