“Girls only” is the motto at Café Portstrasse on Sunday, 6th April, 2014 with not only the café open from 3pm until 6pm, but also a one-hour Zumba workshop with Maxima at 3pm.
The workshop is free for girls to take part in and comfortable clothing is recommended.

Tuesday night is film night at Bluebox Portstraße, located near the U-Bahn stop “Altstadt”.
As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. For Tuesday, 1st April, 2014, we are told that it will be an “award-winning literary film”. If you do want to know which film will be shown then call 06171 636930 and they will tell you.
The showing starts at 9pm.
The Verbraucherzentrale (consumers’ association) will be offering individual energy saving consultations in the Rathaus in Oberursel on Thursday, 3rd April, 2014.
Appointments cost €5 for 30 minutes, and €2.50 for each 15 minutes after that. They need to be arranged in advance by calling 06171 502-310.
The Seniorentreff in Oberursel will be offering an afternoon of Bingo on Thursday, 3rd April, 2014 between 2.30pm and 4.30pm in the “Altes Hospital” (Hospitalstraße 9).
Anyone who is interested is invited to come along and try their luck!
The Seniorentreff in Oberursel will be offering a 3,000 step walk on Wednesday, 2nd April, 2014.
To take part, be at the Christuskirche in the Oberhöchstädter Straße at 3pm.
A tour of the old town (Altstadt) part of Oberursel is being offered on Saturday, 5th April, 2014 at 2pm.
The tour starts in front of the Vortaunusmuseum at the Marktplatz at 2pm and costs €3 per person.
There will be a book flea market in Oberursel’s library on Saturday, 5th April, 2014 between 10am and 1pm with proceeds going to the library’s supporters’ association.
The library is located at one end of the market square in Oberursel, in the Eppsteinerstraße.
The nearest car parks are “Bleiche” and in the Holzweg. The nearest train station is Altstadt (U3).
As Annabel I.’s reign as the fountain queen of Oberursel comes to an end tonight when her successor is crowned, she took time this week to reflect on her year in office.
She said it had been a year of highlights, and listed one after another. She has spent a lot of her year visiting the clubs and charities in the town – at total of 96! She also had a lot of luck with the weather for most of those visits, with probably the worst downpour taking place during her own fountain festival (“Brunnenfest”).
She has also represented the town away from home, such as at a recording of the “Hessenquiz” show, in Hessen’s parliament chamber and even on an adventurous weekend in France. [Read more…]
