The Zeppelinstraße in Oberursel about to turned into a cycle route. Over the course of the autumn half term the road will be converted making cyclists the main users, although cars will still be allowed.
Signs at the ends of the road showing a white bicycle on a blue circle background with the word “Fahrradstraße” will be accompanied by additional signs showing “KFZ-Verkehr frei”, meaning the cars can travel up to 30km/h but that the cyclists have priority. Cyclists will also be allowed to use the road in groups without having to ride in single file.
The Nassauer Straße will also see some changes, with cycle lanes added to allow cyclists travelling to and from the Zeppelinstraße to travel safely to and from the Adenauerallee and hence the station. This route is used in particular by children travelling to the three schools in the area. The speed limit on the Nassauer Straße will also be reduced to 30km/h.
Work to convert the roads will take place in the first week of half term, 17th-21st October, 2016, during which traffic will be diverted through the Hans-Thoma-Straße and Liebfrauenstraße. Bus routes 42 and 44 travelling towards the town centre will also use this route.
The project has been delayed to allow for consultation with political groups and local residents.
