Oberursel Christmas Market (Weihnachtsmarkt)

The 2016 Christmas Market (Weihnachtsmarkt) in Oberursel starts on Thursday, 24th November and continues until Sunday, 27th November.

The market is open Thursday 4pm-9pm, Friday 2pm-10pm, Saturday 12pm-10pm and Sunday 12pm-9pm, and takes place in front of the town hall (Rathausplatz), along the “Vorstadt” and “Strackgasse”, and on the market square (“Marktplatz”) with over 100 stands in total.  Additionally this year the new car park behind the Stadthalle in the Hospitalstraße will also have stands on it, including a merry-go-round. Tuesday night cinema at Bluebox Portstraße

As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. For Tuesday, 29th November, 2016, we are told that it will be an outsider film from Iceland. If you do want to know which film will be shown then call 06171 636930 and they will tell you.

The showing starts at 9pm.

Large book flea market at the library

Pile of books - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / NatikaThere will be a large book flea market in Oberursel’s library on between Wednesday, 23rd and Saturday, 26th November, 2016 with proceeds going to the library’s supporters’ association.

This market takes place on the 1st floor and has a larger selection of books than the monthly one, so there are usually foreign-language books there as well.

The opening times are:

Wednesday 10-1 & 3-6
Thursday 10-1 & 3-7
Friday 10-1 & 3-6
Saturday 10-1

The library is located at one end of the market square in Oberursel, in the Eppsteinerstraße.

The nearest car parks are “Bleiche” and in the Holzweg. The nearest train station is Altstadt (U3).

Roadworks in the Alfred-Lechler-Strasse

During this time parts of the footpath and the road may be inaccessible, however access to all of the properties along the road will be maintained.

The Alfred-Lechler-Straße contains not only the car park for the Taunus Information Centre, but also Frankfurt International School’s Primary School.

As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. For Sunday, 20th November, 2016, we are told that it will be a French Comedy. If you do want to know which film will be shown or to reserve tickets call 06171 636930.

The showing starts at 11.30am and they are located opposite the U-Bahn stop “Altstadt”.

Flea Market in the Adenauerallee

Flea Market - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / photoflorenzoThe monthly flea market in the Adenauerallee in Oberursel will take place on Saturday, 19th November 2016 between 7am and 1pm.

The flea market starts at the end of the pedestrian zone and continues the length of the Adenauerallee and over the railway lines towards Bommersheim. One part also takes place in the Nassauer Straße next to the U-Bahn tracks.

To get there by train take either the line U3 or S5 to Oberursel’s main station.
