Flea Market in the Adenauerallee

Flea Market - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / photoflorenzoThe monthly flea market in the Adenauerallee in Oberursel will resume on Saturday, 17th July, 2021 between 7am and 1pm.  The number of stands has been reduced, and visitors should obverse social distancing rules and not form groups.

The flea market starts at the end of the pedestrian zone and continues the length of the Adenauerallee and over the railway lines towards Bommersheim. One part also takes place in the Nassauer Straße next to the U-Bahn tracks.

To get there by train take either the line U3 or S5 to Oberursel’s main station.

Guided walk: Jewish life in Oberursel

The Victim's Memorial (Opferdenkmal) in OberurselA guided walk entitled “Auf den Spuren jüdischen Lebens in Oberursel” (Traces of Jewish life in Oberursel) is being offered on Sunday, 18th July, 2021 by historian Angelika Rieber.

The tour starts at 2.30pm at the fountain on the Marktplatz and costs 3EUR per person.

Donate Blood in Weißkirchen

Blood - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / iqonceptBlood can be donated at the fire station in Weißkirchen (part of Oberursel) on Wednesday, 26th December, 2018 between 1pm and 5pm. The fire station is located at Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Strasse 2a.

To donate you must be healthy and between 18 and 68 years of age. If you have not donated before, then you must not be over 60. You must take some form of identification with you, such as a passport, that contains a photo.

Book reading for children aged 4 and over

The story “Gestatten, die Weihnachtskatze” by Deborah Underwood is being read in the library on Thursday, 20th December, 2018 at 4pm by volunteer Edith Nikel-Ruppmann.

Tickets cost €2 and should be reserved in advance in the library or by calling 06171 62870.

Energy saving advice

Energy Saving Calculator - ©iStockphoto.com/alexslThe Verbraucherzentrale (consumers’ association) will be offering individual energy saving consultations in the Rathaus in Oberursel on Thursday, 20th December 2018.

Appointments cost €5 for 30 minutes, and €2.50 for each 15 minutes after that. They need to be arranged in advance by calling 06171 502-310.

 

Kamishibai Theatre performance at the library

A Kabishibai Theatre performance for children aged 3 and over will take place in Oberursel’s library on Saturday, 15th December, 2018 at 11am.

“Kabishibai” is Japanese and means “paper drama”.  A story is told using a small stage and pictures on cards inserted into it.

The story on Saturday is “Abenteuer mit Karlchen”.

The performance will last about 45 minutes and tickets costing €2 each are available at the library or by calling 06171 62870.

3,000 step walk for senior citizens in Stierstadt

To take part, be at the bus stop “Altes Rathaus” in Stierstadt at 3pm.

Blood can be donated at the Red Cross in Oberursel on Friday, 14th December, 2018 between 3.30pm and 8pm.  However the usual location is not available at present, so the donation centre will be set up at the Taunushalle in Oberstedten.  To get there, either take Bus route 41 or set satellite navigation devices to “Landwehr 6”.
