Lions Club donate two new benches to the Adenauerallee

The Lions Club in Oberursel have donated two new benches, together worth €1,500, to the park next to the Adenauerallee.

The benches are dedicated to to Dr. Werner Velten, their president in the years 1986 and 1987 who died in 2009, and Erwin Rathgeb, chairman of the town council between 1977 and 1993 and one of their members, who died in 2010.

They were officially handed over to the town in the presence of the widows of both men and Mayor Hans-Georg Brum.

A new bench at the market square for 50 years of the local history society

A new bench was inaugurated in front of the Vortaunusmuseum yesterday by Marion Unger, chairwoman of the Oberursel Local History Society (Verein für Geschichte und Heimatkunde) and Mayor Hans-Georg Brum.

They were accompanied by Renate Messer from the museum and format chairman Dr. Karl-F. Rittershofer.

The society is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and decided to donate the bench at the market square.  The plaque was donated by local metal specialist Dirk Velte.

An exhibition about the society’s work is on display at the town hall until Saturday, 3rd November, 2012.
