Due to the bank holiday on Thursday, 19th June, 2014, the “Restmüll” – the black bags and rubbish bins – will be on Friday instead of Thursday, and Saturday instead of Friday.

Changes to refuse collection days for Easter

The collection days for the black  rubbish sacks and bins are being brought forward for the week before Easter.

The changes are as follows:

Black sacks and bins

… from Monday 14th April to Saturday 12th April (2014)

… from Tuesday 15th April to Monday 14th April

… from Wednesday 16th April to Tuesday 15th April

… from Thursday 17th April to Wednesday 16th April

… from Friday 18th April, Good Friday, to Thursday 17th April

ie. if the rubbish is normally collected on Monday, then it will be collected on Saturday, and  so on.

The week after Easter the situation is reversed, ie. the Monday collection takes place on Tuesday and the Friday collection on Saturday.

Yellow sacks and bins

The yellow sacks and bins will also be collected a day later in the week after Easter.

Getting ready for the “Biotonne”

The houses in Oberursel currently have three rubbish bins:

  • Blue for paper
  • Yellow for packaging (“Grüner Punkt”) – although some houses do not have a bin and just put out the sacks
  • Green or black for everything else (“Restmüll)

Additionally there are glass collection containers and a recycling depot where electrical goods (“Elektroschrott”) and building materials (“Bauschutt”) get taken to.  And then of course there is the special Christmas Tree collection each January.

Soon another collection will be added to the list as the “Biotonne” is introduced for things like food leftovers, fruit peel, dead flowers and other garden waste.
