On Friday, 12th September, 2014, Hans Schubert and Marita Kalthoff from the Independent International Association for Russian Blue Breed Cats presented Nicole Vorlauf (right) from the animal home located at the northern end of Oberursel with a donation of €1,000 to support the home’s work with homeless cats.
The money will be used to help cover the costs of keeping the cats, such as for food and vets’ bills, including the cost of castrating them.
The pair have visited a number of animals’ homes in advance before deciding on Oberursel. “I liked it here”, chairman Hans Schubert said. “For the cats, it’s just like being in a living room.”
Nicole Vorlauf explained that it would be another three weeks before the kittens shown could be considered for new owners, and that before anyone is allowed to take one home with them and that she or one of her colleagues visits them at home before releasing the animals. The kittens would only be given out in pairs, unless the new owners already have other cats.
