Blood can be donated at the Red Cross in Oberursel on Friday, 12th February, 2016 between 3.30pm and 8pm. The Red Cross is located at Marxstraße 28, opposite the U-Bahn station “Lahnstraße”.
To donate you must be healthy and between 18 and 68 years of age. If you have not donated before, then you must not be over 60. You must take some form of identification with you, such as a passport, that contains a photo.

Sunday afternoon sees the annual carnival procession take place in Oberursel, with the usual number of large crowds expected.
The procession will form in the Altkönigstraße and then leave from “Am Rahmtor” at 2.11pm before crossing the Marktplatz and entering the Eppsteiner Str.
On reaching the “Homm-Kreisel” it will turn into the Holzweg and cross the Epinayplatz before entering the Henchenstraße, at the end of which it will turn into the Liebfrauenstraße. [Read more…]
Police have warned drivers to be aware of the “Faschingszoll” – the carnival toll – groups out on the roads in the coming days.
In many places, especially in residential areas, children often hold a rope across the road to stop cars and demand a “toll”.
This tradition carries a certain amount of danger with it, for a number of reasons.
Some motorists may not be prepared to stop and the children need to recognise this and let go of their rope in time or let it drop to the ground. Others may fail to see the rope in time at dusk. In both cases the children involved risk being injured.
Parents and guardians are advised to talk about the danger of the “Faschingzoll” with their children to avoid such risks.
Meanwhile the police themselves are out stopping motorists at the moment to make sure people are not driving home from the many parties under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Having successfully taken over the town hall last Saturday, the children’s prince and princess, Leonard I. and Esther I., moved into the Mayor’s office on Wednesday where they intend to run things until Ash Wednesday.

Tuesday night is film night at Bluebox Portstraße, located near the U-Bahn stop “Altstadt”.
As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. For Tuesday, 9th February, 2016, we are told that it will be a German comedy. If you do want to know which film will be shown then call 06171 636930 and they will tell you.
The showing starts at 9pm.
