Burnt toast causes false alarm in Bommersheim

“As black as a raven” is how police are describing a burnt piece of toast that was responsible for emergency services attending a false alarm on Wednesday, 13th March, 2013 in Bommerhseim.

The alarm was raised at 9.25pm when a burning small was reported to be coming from a house in the Bommersheimer Straße.  The fire brigades from both Bommersheim and Stierstadt attended, as did an ambulance and the police.

However rather than finding a fire they discovered an unlocked door to a flat, where the burnt toast lay in the kitchen next to the appliance in which it had been toasted.

The occupant of the flat was not present and police are unable to say anything more about the toasting process.

Apparently no damage was caused.

The large hammer at Oberursel station

The “Grosse Hammerform” (large hammer) is a combination of burnt and unburnt oak and was made by sculptor Eberhard Müller-Fries during the Hessentag.

It forms the start of the “Skulpturenachse” (Sculpture axis) between the station in Oberursel and the Hohemark.
