Märchentag at the Maize Maze

Drama and Comedy - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / lenmThe Maislabyrinth – a maze made out of maize – will be holding a Märchentag (fairy tale day) on Sunday, 14th August 2011.

On this day, a Märchenerzähler, a story reader will be visiting the maze and reading to children.

The maze itself from 11am until dusk.  Entry costs €2.50 for adults, €2 for children aged 10 to 16 and €1.50 for children aged 4 to 9.

To get there by car, travel to the edge of Weißkirchen on the road to Steinbach.  There is a track off the road near the yellow “Oberursel Stadtteil Weißkirchen” sign leading towards Frankfurt (ie. left if you have just driving through Weißkirchen, right if you are coming from Steinbach).  The maze is about 200m along this track.

If you are coming by train, the nearest station “Weißkirchen-Steinbach” is on the S5 line between Frankfurt and Bad Homburg.

Maize Maze opening in Weißkirchen

The Maislabyrinth – a maze made out of maize – opens for the 2011 season on Sunday, 17th July at 12am, with a visit from the Hessentagspaar at 3pm.  The design of this year’s maze is called “Hessentag between 1961 and 2011”.

In addition to the maze itself there is a haystack to climb on and a “maize pool” to “swim” in.

Ice cream, coffee and cakes will also be available.

The maze is open every Sunday between 11am and dusk until 25th September.  Entry costs €2.50 for adults, €2 for children aged 10 to 16 and €1.50 for children aged 4 to 9.
