Large book flea market at the library

Pile of books - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / NatikaThere will be a large book flea market in Oberursel’s library on between Wednesday, 27th June and Saturday, 30th June 2012 with proceeds going to the library’s supporters’ association.

This market takes place on the 1st floor and has a larger selection of books than the monthly one, so there are usually foreign-language books there as well.

The opening times are:

Wednesday 10-1 & 3-6
Thursday 10-1 & 3-7
Friday 10-1 & 3-6
Saturday 10-1

The library is located at one end of the market square in Oberursel, in the Eppsteinerstraße.

The nearest car parks are “Bleiche” and in the Holzweg. The nearest train station is Altstadt (U3).

 

Coffee on Sunday Afternoon at the Seniorentreff

TaunusDisco for over 40s at Tanzschule Pritzer

Music and Dance - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / james2000A disco for over 40s is being held under the name of “TaunusDisco” in the dance school “Tanzschule Pritzer” in the old station building on Saturday 23rd June, 2012.

The music will be a mixture of current music such as “funk” and “soul”, and also some lesser-known pieces such as World Music, all mixed by DJ Param.

Entry is from 9pm and costs 8 Euro.

Energy saving advice

Oberursel RathausThe Verbraucherzentrale (consumers’ association) will be offering individual energy saving consultations in the Rathaus in Oberursel on Thursday, 21st June, 2012 between 2pm and 6pm.

Appointments cost €5 for 30 minutes, and €2.50 for each 15 minutes after that. They need to be arranged in advance by calling 06171 502-310.

 

Bingo at the Seniorentreff

Anyone who is interested is invited to come along and try their luck!

A Tour of the Hohemark

A walk entitled “Rund um die Hohemark” (round about the Hohemark) is being held on Saturday, 16th June, 2012.

Local historian Manfred Kopp and Gottfried Cramer from the Hohe Mark clinic will be guiding visitors around and explaining the history of the area, such as the weavers (“Spinnerei Hohemark”) and the town water supply.

The tour starts at 2pm at the Taunus Information Centre and costs €3 per person.

3,000 step walk for senior citizens

The Seniorentreff in Oberursel will be offering a 3,000 step walk on Wednesday, 20th June, 2012.

To take part, be at the Christuskirche in the Oberhöchstädter Straße at 3pm.

Flea Market in the Adenauerallee

Flea Market - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / photoflorenzoThe monthly flea market in the Adenauerallee in Oberursel will take place on Saturday, 16th June, 2012 between 7am and 1pm.

The flea market starts at the end of the pedestrian zone and continues the length of the Adenauerallee and over the railway lines towards Bommersheim. One part also takes place in the Nassauer Straße next to the U-Bahn tracks.

To get there by train take either the line U3 or S5 to Oberursel’s main station.

 

Steam trains

DampflokThe Dampfbahnclub-Taunus e.V. steam railway in Oberursel will be open to the public on Sunday, 10th June, 2012 between 10am and 5pm.

Located at the end of the Mainstraße, entry costs €1,50€ for adults and €0,50 for children. Children receive one ticket to go on the trains in the entry price, additional tickets are €0,50 each.

To get there, either leave the A661/B455 at “Oberursel-Nord” towards Oberursel, then take the first turning right into the Dornbachstraße. The Mainstraße is on the right-hand side.

By U-Bahn, take the U3 to Lahnstraße and cross the road before turning left into the Dornbachstraße.
