    Hullo Graham,
I think you would like to know that Air Vice Marshal Sir Ivelaw (sp?) Chapman was kept in the Hohemark Hospital (clinic) as a prisoner after his capture during WWII. My father visited with him daily and even took him on a trip down the Rhine. They stayed in touch for many years after the war.

p.s. General Arthur D Vanaman was also kept in the clinic for a while.

Correction: It is Arthur W Vanaman, not D.

  3. Dear Sir. My name is Co Maarschalkerweerd (83) and I have had the honor, to know Mr Thomas Charles Stanley, an ex-RAF airgunner, who had been one of the 4 British medical orderlies in the Hohemark Lazaret. Tom has been working as such with Dr Ittershagen. And has known Sir Ivelaw Chapman as well as General Smart. Another high ranking wounded (American) officer in Hohemark. Smart sent me a story, how Tom, when waiting at the railway station for a new incoming transport of wounded POW’s to be taken to the Lazaret, noticed another train waiting there at the railway station, loaded with Russian civilians in cattle wagons. In one of these wagons were two young Russian girls whom were taken to the Lazaret as. Do you perhaps know or have more info about what happened to these girls ?!…
