“Girls only” is the motto at Café Portstrasse on Sunday, 19th April, 2015 with not only the café open from 3pm until 6pm, but also a one-hour Zumba workshop with Maxima at 3pm.
The workshop is free for girls to take part in and comfortable clothing is recommended.
Once a month the Bluebox Portstraße holds a Sunday morning breakfast buffet in their cinema.
As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. For Sunday, 19th April, 2015, we are told that it will be about an adventure film. If you do want to know which film will be shown or to reserve tickets call 06171 636930.
The showing starts at 11.30am and they are located opposite the U-Bahn stop “Altstadt”.
The monthly flea market in the Adenauerallee in Oberursel will take place on Saturday, 18th April, 2015 between 7am and 1pm.
The flea market starts at the end of the pedestrian zone and continues the length of the Adenauerallee and over the railway lines towards Bommersheim. One part also takes place in the Nassauer Straße next to the U-Bahn tracks.
To get there by train take either the line U3 or S5 to Oberursel’s main station.
The Seniorentreff in the “Altes Hospital” (Hospitalstraße 9) will be holding a breakfast buffet on Friday, 17th April, 2015 between 9am and 11am.
To take part, register in advance by calling 06171 585333 and leave a message on the answerphone if necessary by Tuesday the week before.
The Seniorentreff in Oberursel will be holding a Stammtisch on Friday, 17th April, 2015 between 5pm and 8.30pm in the “Altes Hospital” (Hospitalstraße 9).
The Stammtisch is a place to discuss anything and everything that those attending wish to.
A charge of €7 per person will be made to cover the cost of food and drink.
The musikhalle portstrasse is holding a “Friday night Jam Session” on Friday, 17th April, 2015 at 8pm.
Entry is free.
The “musikhalle” is located opposite the U-Bahn station “Altstadt” on the U3 line.
The Verbraucherzentrale (consumers’ association) will be offering individual energy saving consultations in the Rathaus in Oberursel on Thursday, 16th April, 2015.
Appointments cost €5 for 30 minutes, and €2.50 for each 15 minutes after that. They need to be arranged in advance by calling 06171 502-310.
The Seniorentreff in Oberursel will be offering an afternoon of Bingo on Thursday, 16th April, 2015 between 2.30pm and 4.30pm in the “Altes Hospital” (Hospitalstraße 9).
Anyone who is interested is invited to come along and try their luck!

All members of the Ausländerbeirat were present when their meeting started on Monday, 9th March, 2015. The meeting got speedily underway, with no questions from members of the public, a short statement by the chairman, and no messages from the town’s administration. The guest speaker on the topic of “Anti-discrimination in Frankfurt” was not there, so within a few minutes the committee had already made it to item 6 on their agenda.
However before they could deal with that item, and after some discussion about how exactly to change the agenda, they added item 12: a discussion about the gala evening of the Windrose charity. Theoretically item 12 could have been added to the end of the agenda, but there was an objection to this as committee member Giannoula Kalargali wanted to be there for the discussion (and vote) and had – as so often in the past – to leave early.
So item 12 became item 5 (neu), or mabye it became just item 5, because item 5 was dropped, because the speaker was not there. Let’s just say it made it onto the agenda between items 4 and 6. [Read more…]
