Tuesday night cinema at Bluebox Portstraße

As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. For Tuesday, 14th April, 2015, we are told that it will be a drama. If you do want to know which film will be shown then call 06171 636930 and they will tell you.

The showing starts at 9pm.

3,000 step walk for senior citizens in Stierstadt

To take part, be at the bus stop “Altes Rathaus” in Stierstadt at 3pm.

Coffee on Sunday Afternoon at the Seniorentreff

A celtic funeral pileA tour entitled “Das keltische Leben am Fuße des Feldbergs” (celtic life at the foot of the Feldberg) is being held on Saturday, 11th April, 2015 at 2pm.

The tour starts at the Taunus Information Centre and costs €5 per person, those taking part should have sturdy footwear.

 

Thief caught in restaurant

In the early hours of Sunday, 29th March, 2015, a 20-year-old man was seen in a restaurant in the Holzweg-Passage taking a mobile phone out of a handbag.  The witness spoke to the man about it, at which point he through the phone onto the floor.  A number of people then held the accused in the restaurant until the police arrived.

On searching the man, the police found an empty wallet which had previously been reported stolen out of a jacked in another restaurant in the Adenauerallee.

Breakfast Buffet at the Seniorentreff

The Seniorentreff in the “Altes Hospital” (Hospitalstraße 9) will be holding a breakfast buffet on Friday, 10th April, 2015 between 9am and 11am.

Donate Blood

Blood - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / iqonceptBlood can be donated at the Red Cross in Oberursel on Saturday, 11th April, 2015 between 1.30pm and 6pm. The Red Cross is located at Marxstraße 28, opposite the U-Bahn station “Lahnstraße”.

To donate you must be healthy and between 18 and 68 years of age. If you have not donated before, then you must not be over 60. You must take some form of identification with you, such as a passport, that contains a photo.

Vandalism at the Deschauer Park

On Monday evening (30th March, 2015), a group of youths were seen damaging a fence in part of the “Deschauer Park”.  Around the same time the police received calls about four young people in the Füllerstraße, near the “Deschauer Park”, who had damaged a parked car.

It was later discovered that around 8m of wire-mesh fence on the Körnerstraße side of the park had been damaged, including one of the fence posts, and a number of glass bottles had been thrown against a wooden house on the playground in the park.

A parked VW Polo had had one of its wing mirrors kicked off.

The damage in the park is estimated at €1,500, the damage to the car at €600.

Two police teams found three of the suspects and followed them a short distance on foot before arresting them.  The 16 and 17 year olds were under the influence of alcohol, and after questioning they were handed over to their parents.  The police are continuing with their enquiries.

Easter Egg Hunts

Hunting for Easter Eggs at home on Sunday is part of the German tradition at Easter.  But there are two public hunts taking place over the weekend in the town as well:

The TaunaBad will be opening up their lawns between 9.30am and 12 noon on Sunday (5th April, 2015) for children to hunt for eggs which they can exchange for sweets, the pool itself does not open until 10am but there will be coffee available in the foyer.

The local branch of the SPD will be organising a hunt at Camp King on Monday (6th April, 2015) for children up to the age of 10.  To take part be at the rondell next to the Waldorf School at 11am.  The areas to search in are divided up into three age groups, and in addition to the chocolate goodies each area contains a wooden egg which can be exchanged for a prize.
