Thief caught in restaurant

In the early hours of Sunday, 29th March, 2015, a 20-year-old man was seen in a restaurant in the Holzweg-Passage taking a mobile phone out of a handbag.  The witness spoke to the man about it, at which point he through the phone onto the floor.  A number of people then held the accused in the restaurant until the police arrived.

On searching the man, the police found an empty wallet which had previously been reported stolen out of a jacked in another restaurant in the Adenauerallee.

The lost property office (Fundbüro) in Oberursel’s town hall has released a list of items that have been handed in during August and September.

Amongst the latest finds are four ID cards, seven bicycles, three pairs of glasses, a walking stick, four purses, three mobile phones, a SIM card, keyrings, an arm band, an earring, a baby’s rattle, three watches and various items of clothing.

They can be collected at the Rathaus in room 101A within 6 months of them being handed in. For more information call 06171 502-371 or -262.

Meanwhile some older items are currently being auctioned off on the website www.sonderauktionen.net.

Open-air Theatre 2012: Jedermann

The open-air theatre in Oberursel, the “Theater im Park”, is now in its third year at the “new” location in the grounds of the Hohe Mark clinic at the northern end of Oberursel.

And after two years of speaking in the Hessian dialect for the “Datterich” production, this year sees a modern version of a play called “Jedermann”.  Originally written in 1911 by Hugo von Hofmannsthal, the story sees a rich man    meet his maker and have to justify his way of life.

The modern adaptation by director Andreas Walther-Schroth stays with this theme but uses the scenario of a powerful and scruple-less businessman (played by Helmut Langer) who runs a company called the Jedermann AG. [Read more…]

The lost property office (Fundbüro) in Oberursel’s town hall has released a list of items that have been handed in during June and July.

Amongst the latest finds are eight ID cards, seven bicycles, a cycle helmet, a digital camera, four purses, three mobile phones, a Blackberry, two MP3 players, a ring, 16 keys and keyrings, a brooch, a bracelet, two watches and various items of clothing.

Police traffic checks in the Zimmersmühlenweg

The police in Oberursel (Ordnungspolizei) carried out traffic checks in the Zimmersmühlenweg last Wednesday.

Between 10.40am and 1pm they came across 5 cases of people not wearing a seat belt (30 Euro fine).  None of those checked were using a mobile phone whilst driving.

Police traffic checks on the Kanonenstraße

The police in Oberursel (Ordnungspolizei) carried out traffic checks on the Kanonenstraße towards the Feldberg yesterday.

Between 11am and 12.55pm they stopped 12 vehicles, none of which gave them cause to issue any fines.

The police in Oberursel (Ordnungspolizei) carried out traffic checks in the Zimmersmühlenweg yesterday.

Between 10.20am and 11.45am they came across 4 cases of people not wearing a seat belt (30 Euro fine) and 1 person who was using a mobile phone whilst driving (40 Euro fine and 1 point).
