Classical tractor fans had a chance to see a selection of makes and models at the Bickert family’s maize maze (Maislabyrinth) in Weißkirchen last Sunday.
Not only were there ten “normal” tractors from the area, the oldest of which being a Hanomag type R35 without hydraulics built in 1953 and followed by the model “Robust” of the same make and built in 1962. [Read more…]
The Seniorentreff in Oberursel will be offering an afternoon of Bingo on Thursday, 17th September 2015 between 2.30pm and 4.30pm in the “Altes Hospital” (Hospitalstraße 9).
Anyone who is interested is invited to come along and try their luck!
Tuesday night is film night at Bluebox Portstraße, located near the U-Bahn stop “Altstadt”.
As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. For Tuesday, 15th September 2015, we are told that it will be a “prize-winning tragic comedy”. If you do want to know which film will be shown then call 06171 636930 and they will tell you.
The showing starts at 9pm.
The Seniorentreff in the “Altes Hospital” (Hospitalstraße 9) will be holding a breakfast buffet on Friday, 11th September, 2015 between 9am and 11am.
To take part, register in advance by calling 06171 585333 and leave a message on the answerphone if necessary by Tuesday the week before.
As part of the Orscheler Sommer the film “Monsieur Claude und seine Töchter” will be shown in the Camp-King-Park on Saturday, 12th September, 2015 at 9.30pm.
A rock concert is being held on the Rathausplatz on Friday, 11th September, 2015 at 7.30pm.

The event is part of the Orscheler Sommer organised by Kunstgriff e.V.
The Maislabyrinth – a maze made out of maize – will be holding a Kräutertag (herb day) on Sunday, 13th September, 2015.
On this day, a Kräuterfee, literally a “herb fairy”, will be there and one of the highlights of the day will be a traditional Frankfurt green sauce.
The maze itself from 11am until 7pm. Entry costs €3.00 for adults, €2.50 for children aged 10 to 16 and €2.00 for children aged 4 to 9.
To get there by car, travel to the edge of Weißkirchen on the road to Steinbach. There is a track off the road near the yellow “Oberursel Stadtteil Weißkirchen” sign leading towards Frankfurt (ie. left if you have just driving through Weißkirchen, right if you are coming from Steinbach). The maze is about 200m along this track.
If you are coming by train, the nearest station “Weißkirchen-Steinbach” is on the S5 line between Frankfurt and Bad Homburg.

The showing starts at 11.30am and they are located opposite the U-Bahn stop “Altstadt”.
Blood can be donated at the Red Cross in Oberursel on Friday, 11th September 2015 between 3.30pm and 8pm. The Red Cross is located at Marxstraße 28, opposite the U-Bahn station “Lahnstraße”.
To donate you must be healthy and between 18 and 68 years of age. If you have not donated before, then you must not be over 60. You must take some form of identification with you, such as a passport, that contains a photo.
