Helmut Hartmann – 90th Birthday

Kamishibai Theatre performance at the library

A Kabishibai Theatre performance for children aged 3 and over will take place in Oberursel’s library on Saturday, 24th June, 2017 at 11am.

“Kabishibai” is Japanese and means “paper drama”.  A story is told using a small stage and pictures on cards inserted into it.

The story on Saturday is “Der süße Brei”.

The performance will last about 45 minutes and tickets costing €2 each are available at the library or by calling 06171 62870.

War and peace in Oberursel

A tour entitled “War and Peace in Oberursel” is being held on Sunday, 25th June, 2017.

A host of guides – Sylvia Struck, Hermann Schmidt, Angelika Rieber, Maren Horn und Dietrich Andernacht – will lead tour through the centre of the town to visit places where the town was once defended as well as places that played a roll in the wars of the 20th Century.

The tour is set to last around 2 hours and costs 3 Euro per person to take part.  The starting point is at the St.Ursula church at 2.30pm.

Large book flea market at the library

Pile of books - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / NatikaThere will be a large book flea market in Oberursel’s library between Wednesday, 21st and Saturday, 24th June, 2017 with proceeds going to the library’s supporters’ association.

This market takes place on the 1st floor and has a larger selection of books than the monthly one, so there are usually foreign-language books there as well.

The opening times are:

Wednesday 10-1 & 3-6
Thursday 10-1 & 3-7
Friday 10-1 & 3-6
Saturday 10-1

The library is located at one end of the market square in Oberursel, in the Eppsteinerstraße.

The nearest car parks are “Bleiche” and in the Holzweg. The nearest train station is Altstadt (U3).

Stammtisch at the Seniorentreff

Coffee and Dougnuts - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / FatseyevaThe Seniorentreff in Oberursel will be holding a Stammtisch on Friday, 23rd June, 2017 between 5pm and 8.30pm in the “Altes Hospital” (Hospitalstraße 9).

The Stammtisch is a place to discuss anything and everything that those attending wish to.

A charge of €7 per person will be made to cover the cost of food and drink and due to the limited number of places reservation by telephone (06171 585333) is requested.

3,000 step walk for senior citizens in Weißkirchen

To take part, be at the “Altes Rathaus” (Urselbachstraße 59) at 9.30am.

To take part, be at the Christuskirche in the Oberhöchstädter Straße at 3pm.

Tuesday night cinema at Bluebox Portstraße

As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. For Tuesday, 20th June 2017, we are told that it will be a film about a woman. If you do want to know which film will be shown then call 06171 636930 and they will tell you.

The showing starts at 9pm.

Flea Market in the Adenauerallee

The flea market starts at the end of the pedestrian zone and continues the length of the Adenauerallee and over the railway lines towards Bommersheim. One part also takes place in the Nassauer Straße next to the U-Bahn tracks.

To get there by train take either the line U3 or S5 to Oberursel’s main station.
