To take part, be at the bus stop “Altes Rathaus” in Stierstadt at 3pm.

As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. For Tuesday, 25th September, 2018, we are told that it will be a fantasy filmIf you do want to know which film will be shown then call 06171 636930 and they will tell you.

The showing starts at 8.30 pm

As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. For Sunday, 23rd September 2018, we are told that it will be a French film. If you do want to know which film will be shown or to reserve tickets call 06171 636930.

The showing starts at 11.30am and they are located opposite the U-Bahn stop “Altstadt”.

Potato Day at the Maize Maze

The Maize Maze in WeißkirchenThe Maislabyrinth – a maze made out of maize – will be holding a Potato Day on Sunday, 23rd September, 2018.  There will be potatoes to pick and potato dishes on the menu.

The maze itself from 11am until 7pm. Entry costs €3.00 for adults, €2.50 for children aged 10 to 16 and €2.00 for children aged 4 to 9.

To get there by car, travel to the edge of Weißkirchen on the road to Steinbach. There is a track off the road near the yellow “Oberursel Stadtteil Weißkirchen” sign leading towards Frankfurt (ie. left if you have just driving through Weißkirchen, right if you are coming from Steinbach). The maze is about 200m along this track.

If you are coming by train, the nearest station “Weißkirchen-Steinbach” is on the S5 line between Frankfurt and Bad Homburg.

Entry is free.

The “musikhalle” is located opposite the U-Bahn station “Altstadt” on the U3 line.

Appointments cost €5 for 30 minutes, and €2.50 for each 15 minutes after that. They need to be arranged in advance by calling 06171 502-310.

A tour of Camp King

The Kinderhaus - previously Haus Florida, Haus 997, Haus am Wald and Außerhalb 7 - now Jean-Sauer-Weg 2On Saturday, 15th September, 2018 there will be a tour of the area in Oberursel known as “Camp King” with local town guide Sylvia Struck.

The tour covers the history of the area from the Reichssiedlungshof in the 1930s, through the time of the Auswertestelle West up to the end of the U.S. Army presence in the town.

The meeting point is at the “Kinderhaus” in the Jean-Sauer-Weg at 2pm, and the tour costs 3EUR.

This is an interesting opportunity for local residents to learn more about the history of the area that they live in.
