This year they have added chutney, gingerbread green tea and Lady Grey tea bags to the range on their stall.

Nativity Play in the Auferstehungskirche

“We’re going to rehearse, and everyone else is going to be quiet” Jutta Haßelwander told the children, who had come to the Auferstehungskirche on Saturday to rehearse for the annual nativity play.

At the dress rehearsel each child not only had their part, but also their own assigned place to sit.  That way, Frau Haßelwander knew exactly where the person was who she needed to go onto the stage.

She has been organising the nativity play in the Auferstehungskirche for the past 14 years, and each year she tries to interpret the Christmas story in a new year.  However this year the story is being told in a more traditional year, and preparations began back in September, with the children being cast mid-November. English Baking Afternoon at Helen Doron Early English

The Helen Doron Early English centre in Oberursel’s station will be holding an English Baking Afternoon for children aged between 5 and 10, regardless of their level of English, on Saturday, 14th December, 2013 between 2pm and 6pm.

Together they will be baking biscuits, making Christmas decorations, and singing songs together – and learning English at the same time.

To take part, children need to be registered by 12th December with Nicole Greifenstein (n.greifenstein@web.de) and the afternoon costs 15 Euro per child.

Christmas Concert in Stierstadt

A concert with the Stierstadt “Blasorchester” – a band made up of brass and woodwind instruments – is being held on Sunday, 8th December, 2013 at 4pm in the St.Sebastian church in Stierstadt.

The church can be reached by taking buses 41, 42 or 252 to the “Altes Rathaus” stop, or the S-Bahn S5 to “Stierstadt”.

The tastes and smells of Christmas

The tastes of smells of Christmas – cinnamon, vanilla, aniseed are just some of those associated with the festive season in Germany.

On Friday, 6th December, 2013 between 3.30pm and 5.30pm will have a chance to find out more about them at the Kinderbüro, behind the library in Eppsteiner Straße 16-18.
