Herbsttreiben – a Market of Markets

On these days, a handicraft market will take place on the Epinayplatz and in the Kumeliusstraße, cider will be sold on the Marktplatz at the “Ebbelwoi-Vertestigung”, whilst stalls selling French wares will be on the Rathausplatz.

Also on the Marktplatz there will be a market of specialities from Thuringia, and music and entertainment can be expected at both the Marktplatz and the Rathausplatz.

Sunday, 21st September is “verkaufsoffen” and many of the shops in the town centre will be open during the afternoon, and also on Sunday a Vietnamese festival will take place in the Adenauerallee between 12pm and 6pm.

During the entire weekend a miniature railway for children will be running in the Ackergasse and Untere Hainstraße. [Read more…]

Afro-Reggae Concert on the Rathausplatz

The musicians will be:

20:00-20:45 Cros Cosmo (Reggae, Latino)

21:05-21:50 Do Daktari (Afrobeat)

22:10-23:00 Gastone (Reggae-Pop-Rock)

Classical Music Concert on the Rathausplatz

Playing pieces by Vivaldi, Albinoni, Corelli, J.S. Bach, John Williams and others will be Katie Spencer (flute), Arun Kumar (guitar) and Holger Pusinelli (violin) along with the “Arco Concertante” orchestra made up of teachers from the town’s music school.

Entry is free.

Gospel Concert on the Rathausplatz

The Frankfurter Gospelchor will be singing from their repetroire, including “oh Happy Day”, “Kumbayah” and “Go Tell it on the Mountain”, accompanied by pinao, percussion, bass and saxophone.

Entry is free.

Rock Concert on the Rathausplatz

The bands playing will be:

21:10-23:00 Bryan 69 (Bryan Adams Tribute)

It’s carnival time!

The Rathaussturm when the carnival prince takes over the town hall took place in slightly wet weather on Saturday morning:

Oberursel Christmas Market (Weihnachtsmarkt)

Sweets beings sold at Oberursel Christmas Market 2011The 2013 Christmas Market (Weihnachtsmarkt) in Oberursel starts on Thursday, 28th November and continues until Sunday, 1st December.

The market is open Thursday 4pm-9pm, Friday 2pm-10pm, Saturday 12pm-10pm and Sunday 12pm-9pm, and takes place in front of the town hall (Rathausplatz), along the “Vorstadt” and “Strackgasse”, and on the market square (“Marktplatz”) with around 100 stands in total.

The Marktplatz is the location for the “middle-ages” market, whereas a miniature steam train will be offering rides on the Rathausplatz. [Read more…]

Martinsmarket

This weekend sees the Martinsmarket take place in Oberursel on the Rathausplatz, Epinayplatz and in the Kumeliusstraße.

Whilst the Rathausplatz is turned into a middle-age market, the Epinayplatz will by the place to go for local produce ranging from cheese to fish.

On Sunday the normal shops will also be open from 12 noon until 6pm.

Open-Air Film: Schatten und Nebel

As part of the Orscheler Sommer the Woody Allen film “Schatten und Nebel” (Shadows and Fog) will be shown on the Rathausplatz on Saturday, 27th July, 2013 at 9.30pm.
