Driver seriously hurt and Stone Cross damaged

A 71-year-old from Frankfurt was driving along the Königsteiner Straße (K772) from the B455 heading towards Oberursel in her VW Golf on Sunday, 22nd September, 2013, when for some unknown reason she came off the road at the “Heidekrug” and headed into the ditch.

Here she collided with a statue on a sandstone plinth known as the “Signorino Cross”.  The force of the collision caused considerable damage to the cross and parts of the plinth hit a nearby parked car.

Both cars were damaged so much, that neither were able to be driven after the accident and the damage is estimated at €30,000.

The driver of the VW Golf was seriously injured and was taken to the hospital in Bad Homburg for treatment.  The fire brigade were called to deal with petrol which was leaking from her car.
