The Königsteiner Straße (K772) will be closed between 9am on Monday, 9th October and 3.30pm on Tuesday, 10th October, 2017, to allow for tree-felling to take place.

Speed trap on the Königsteiner Straße

Local police set up a speed trap last week on Friday, 5th December, 2014 between 6.55pm and 9.55pm on the Königsteiner Straße (K772) to check cars travelling out of the town on a stretch of road where only 70km/h is permitted.

Of the 200 vehicles that passed, 21 were travelling too fast.

However one car was travelling at 206km/h, meaning that the driver can expect a 3 month ban from driving, a 600 Euro fine and 2 points on their license.

With both the cycle race “Rund um den Finanzplatz Eschborn-Frankfurt” and the “Altstadt-Duathlon” taking place in Oberursel on Thursday, 1st May, 2014, a number of roads will be closed with changes to public transport services as well.

The following roads will be closed between approximately 7am and 7.30pm:

  • Königsteiner Straße between the B455 and Altkönigstraße
  • Am Rahmtor
  • Marktplatz
  • Wiederholtstraße
  • Eppsteiner Straße
  • Obere Hainstraße
  • Bleiche
  • An der Herrenmühle
  • Altkönigstraße between Steinmühlenweg and Königsteiner Straße
  • Obergasse
  • An der Burg
  • Obere Schulstraße
  • Marienstraße
  • St.-Ursula-Gasse
  • Hollerberg
The following roads are affected by the closures, even if they are not closed themselves (eg. because of one-way signs or because they become no-through-roads):
  • Füllerstraße
  • Strackgasse
  • Weidengasse
  • Ackergasse
  • Untere Hainstraße
  • Neutorallee
  • Schillierstraße
  • Brüder-Winter-Straße
  • Herzog-Adolf-Straße
Additionally the following roads will be closed between 9.30am and 2pm:
  • Kanonenstraße
  • Hohemarkstraße
  • Feldbergstraße
  • Nassauer Straße
  • Homburger Landstraße (travelling towards Oberursel)
Due to a new route for the race it will be not possible to enter or leave Siterstadt or Weißkirchen from 9.30am until 1pm, except for the emergency services.
Anyone travelling on Thursday should plan their journey in advance to avoid problems due to the closures, or park their car outside of the area in advance.

Public transport

The U-Bahn U3 will terminate at “Bahnhof Oberursel” between 8.30am and 2pm.

Buses 41 and 42 will not be running until after 2.30pm, with nr. 42 being diverted along the Dornbachstraße, Lahnstraße and Hohemarkstraße to avoid the Altkönigstraße and the Markplatz.

 

Jaguar overtook and collided with VW Golf

The two drivers involved in a recent accident on the Königsteiner Straße were unable to agree on whether one had indicated or not.

The accident happened on Thursday, 9th January, 2014 at around 8pm.  A 34-year-old was driving her  VW Golf along the Königsteiner Straße towards the B455 and wanted to turn left into a small road leading to allotments.

The 52-year-old driver in a Jaguar behind went to overtake the Golf, which was slowing down, and collided with it.

According to police, their statements differed as to whether the 34-year-old had indicated that she was turning off the road.  The damage is estimated at around €5,000.

Crash during U-Turn on the Königsteiner Straße

A 74-year-old driving an Audi A1 crashed attempting to make a U-Turn on the Königsteiner Straße (K772) on Tuesday, 7th January, 2014 at around 2pm.

They were heading from Königstein towards Oberursel when they turned off into the Königsteiner Straße and then tried to turn around to return to the B455.  However the driver oversaw the traffic island and hit one of the roadsigns causing €3,000 of damage.

Königsteiner Closed on Saturday

The “Geroldspfad” footpath will also be closed.

Driver seriously hurt and Stone Cross damaged

A 71-year-old from Frankfurt was driving along the Königsteiner Straße (K772) from the B455 heading towards Oberursel in her VW Golf on Sunday, 22nd September, 2013, when for some unknown reason she came off the road at the “Heidekrug” and headed into the ditch.

Here she collided with a statue on a sandstone plinth known as the “Signorino Cross”.  The force of the collision caused considerable damage to the cross and parts of the plinth hit a nearby parked car.

Both cars were damaged so much, that neither were able to be driven after the accident and the damage is estimated at €30,000.

The driver of the VW Golf was seriously injured and was taken to the hospital in Bad Homburg for treatment.  The fire brigade were called to deal with petrol which was leaking from her car.
