A 3,000 step walk for senior citizens is taking place in Weißkirchen on Wednesday, 23rd August 2017.
To take part, be at the “Altes Rathaus” (Urselbachstraße 59) at 9.30am.
A Skoda parked in the Herzbergstraße was broken into on Thursday, 3rd August, 2017, some time between 5.15pm and 5.30pm.
The passenger side front window was smashed to gain access to the vehicle, and the thieves took two wallets from inside.
Both wallets were found nearby, but without the cash in the them. The damage is estimated at several hundred Euros.
Two bicycles worth around €1,800 have been stolen from a garage at the northern end of Oberursel.
The bicycles were taken in the Friedländerstraße some time between 9.30am on Wednesday, 2nd August, 2017 and 7.25am the following day.
One was a children’s bicycle, the other was a “Cube” mountain bike.
Police would like witnesses to call them on 06171 62400.
Police in Oberursel have arrested a man for allegedly trying to steal a bicycle.
They were called by a passer by on Thursday, 3rd August, 2017 at 9.45pm, who had seen a man doing something to a number of bikes at the station. The police were able to find the 41-year-old man from Oberursel whilst he was still there and took him away for questioning. He has since been released.

To take part, be at the bus stop “Altes Rathaus” in Stierstadt at 3pm.
A guided walk entitled “Auf den Spuren jüdischen Lebens in Oberursel” (Traces of Jewish life in Oberursel) is being offered on Sunday, 20th August, 2017 by historian Angelika Rieber.
The tour starts at 2.30pm at the fountain on the Marktplatz and costs 3EUR per person.
The monthly flea market in the Adenauerallee in Oberursel will take place on Saturday, 19th August 2017 between 7am and 1pm.
The flea market starts at the end of the pedestrian zone and continues the length of the Adenauerallee and over the railway lines towards Bommersheim. One part also takes place in the Nassauer Straße next to the U-Bahn tracks.
To get there by train take either the line U3 or S5 to Oberursel’s main station.
The Seniorentreff in Oberursel will be holding a Stammtisch on Friday, 18th August, 2017 between 5pm and 8.30pm in the “Altes Hospital” (Hospitalstraße 9).
The Stammtisch is a place to discuss anything and everything that those attending wish to.
A charge of €7 per person will be made to cover the cost of food and drink and due to the limited number of places reservation by telephone (06171 585333) is requested.
There have been some high-level changes recently at Oberursel’s twin towns.
In May, Councillor Sophia Choudhary was nominated to be the new Mayor of Rushmoor. There the position, which is largely a representative role, is not elected directly but instead by the town council. Not only is Councillor Choudhary the youngest Mayor the borough has ever seen, she is also the first female muslim Mayor that they have had. She uses the title “Mayor”, and not “Mayoress”, joking that the latter is used by her sister Attika, who accompanies her on official engagements. [Read more…]
The Verbraucherzentrale (consumers’ association) will be offering individual energy saving consultations in the Rathaus in Oberursel on Thursday, 17th August 2017.
Appointments cost €5 for 30 minutes, and €2.50 for each 15 minutes after that. They need to be arranged in advance by calling 06171 502-310.
