Tuesday night cinema at Bluebox Portstraße

As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. For Tuesday, 17th October 2017, we are told that it will be a recent German film. If you do want to know which film will be shown then call 06171 636930 and they will tell you.

The showing starts at 9pm.

Königsteiner Straße closed

The Königsteiner Straße (K772) will be closed between 9am on Monday, 9th October and 3.30pm on Tuesday, 10th October, 2017, to allow for tree-felling to take place.

Taunabad closed for the first week of the holidays

The Taunabad will be closed until Sunday, 15th October, 2017, to allow for repairs to the roof to take place.

Oberursel will soon have a steam railway again

It was three years ago, on 12th October, 2014, that the last train rolled over the tracks of the miniature railway belonging to the Dampfbahnclub Taunus in the Mainstraße.  After that day the tracks, buildings and other fixtures of the old layout were taken up and removed, work that took a whole year to complete.

After that workers from the local authority (Hochtaunuskreis) arrived and started the groundwork for the new railway.  They laid the foundations according to a plan that members of the club had designed.  In October 2015 the tunnel was installed and the club members moved the railway shed to its new location.

Come January 2016 the club was back on its own and started to build the new layout.  Not only did that have to do everything themselves, they had to make most of it as well as almost none of the elements from the old layout – including the tracks – could be re-used and had to be replaced. A celtic funeral pileA tour entitled “Das keltische Leben am Fuße des Feldbergs” (celtic life at the foot of the Feldberg) is being held on Saturday, 14th October, 2017 at 2pm.

The tour starts at the Taunus Information Centre and costs €5 per person, those taking part should have sturdy footwear.

 

Donate Blood

Blood - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / iqonceptBlood can be donated at the Red Cross in Oberursel on Friday, 13th October 2017 between 3.30pm and 8pm. The Red Cross is located at Marxstraße 28, opposite the U-Bahn station “Lahnstraße”.

To donate you must be healthy and between 18 and 68 years of age. If you have not donated before, then you must not be over 60. You must take some form of identification with you, such as a passport, that contains a photo.

Breakfast Buffet at the Seniorentreff

The Seniorentreff in the “Altes Hospital” (Hospitalstraße 9) will be holding a breakfast buffet on Friday, 13th October, 2017 between 9am and 10.30am, with food and drink costing €6 per person.

To take part, register in advance by calling 06171 585333 and leave a message on the answerphone if necessary.

Children’s cinema in the Portstrasse

If you do want to know which film will be shown then call 06171 636930 and they will tell you.

Entry costs €2 per child, with free entry for one accompanying adult.

The bluebox is located opposite the U-Bahn station “Altstadt” (formerly “Portstraße”).

 

3,000 step walk for senior citizens in Weißkirchen

To take part, be at the “Altes Rathaus” (Urselbachstraße 59) at 9.30am.

To take part, be at the Christuskirche in the Oberhöchstädter Straße at 3pm.
