Breakfast Cinema at Bluebox Portstrasse

As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. For Sunday, 22nd  October 2017, we are told that it will be a British film. If you do want to know which film will be shown or to reserve tickets call 06171 636930.

The showing starts at 11.30am and they are located opposite the U-Bahn stop “Altstadt”.

Flea Market in the Adenauerallee

Flea Market - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / photoflorenzoThe monthly flea market in the Adenauerallee in Oberursel will take place on Saturday, 21st October 2017 between 7am and 1pm.

The flea market starts at the end of the pedestrian zone and continues the length of the Adenauerallee and over the railway lines towards Bommersheim. One part also takes place in the Nassauer Straße next to the U-Bahn tracks.

To get there by train take either the line U3 or S5 to Oberursel’s main station.

 

Stammtisch at the Seniorentreff

Coffee and Dougnuts - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / FatseyevaThe Seniorentreff in Oberursel will be holding a Stammtisch on Friday, 20th October, 2017 between 5pm and 8.30pm in the “Altes Hospital” (Hospitalstraße 9).

The Stammtisch is a place to discuss anything and everything that those attending wish to.

A charge of €7 per person will be made to cover the cost of food and drink and due to the limited number of places reservation by telephone (06171 585333) is requested.

Energy saving advice

Energy Saving Calculator - ©iStockphoto.com/alexslThe Verbraucherzentrale (consumers’ association) will be offering individual energy saving consultations in the Rathaus in Oberursel on Thursday, 19th October 2017.

Appointments cost €5 for 30 minutes, and €2.50 for each 15 minutes after that. They need to be arranged in advance by calling 06171 502-310.

 

Friday Night Jazz at the Portstrasse

Entry is free.

The “musikhalle” is located opposite the U-Bahn station “Altstadt” on the U3 line.

Tuesday night cinema at Bluebox Portstraße

As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. For Tuesday, 17th October 2017, we are told that it will be a recent German film. If you do want to know which film will be shown then call 06171 636930 and they will tell you.

The showing starts at 9pm.

Königsteiner Straße closed

The Königsteiner Straße (K772) will be closed between 9am on Monday, 9th October and 3.30pm on Tuesday, 10th October, 2017, to allow for tree-felling to take place.

Taunabad closed for the first week of the holidays

The Taunabad will be closed until Sunday, 15th October, 2017, to allow for repairs to the roof to take place.

Oberursel will soon have a steam railway again

It was three years ago, on 12th October, 2014, that the last train rolled over the tracks of the miniature railway belonging to the Dampfbahnclub Taunus in the Mainstraße.  After that day the tracks, buildings and other fixtures of the old layout were taken up and removed, work that took a whole year to complete.

After that workers from the local authority (Hochtaunuskreis) arrived and started the groundwork for the new railway.  They laid the foundations according to a plan that members of the club had designed.  In October 2015 the tunnel was installed and the club members moved the railway shed to its new location.

Come January 2016 the club was back on its own and started to build the new layout.  Not only did that have to do everything themselves, they had to make most of it as well as almost none of the elements from the old layout – including the tracks – could be re-used and had to be replaced.
