18th Rheingau Wine Festival

The 18th Rheingau Wine Festival in Oberursel is being held between Friday 3rd August and Sunday 5th August 2018 on the Marktplatz.

Many of the vineyards at the festival will be familiar to those who have been before, as they have been coming for a number of years and often have their stands in the same place each year.

Visitors can expect to find selected Riesling and Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) wines from towns such as Lorch, Hattenheim, Hochheim, Giesenheim, Erbach, Johannisberg and Oestrich-Winkel.

There will also be a variety of food on offer, including Flammkuchen (Tarte Flambee) and (Zwiebelkuchen) Onion cake.

17th Rheingau Wine Festival

And finally… the small matter of the Straßenbeitragssatzung

There is one topic in Oberursel that has probably been discussed more than anything else this year.  If not, then it is at least on par with the new swimming pool and the re-development of the station area.  And yet, unlike those other two subjects, it is one that is not so easy to understand.

It is the “Straßenbeitragssatzung“.

The amount of interest in this particular topic was demonstrated in August, when a Bürgerversammlung was held in the Stadthalle to inform members of the public about it and also to hear their views.  So many people turned up, that the start of the evening was delayed for safety reasons and the partition wall was removed from the hall to increase the capacity – something that even those on the stage confirmed has never happened before – not even for the evening about the swimming pool! Road closures and parking restrictions during the wine festival

From Thursday 2nd until Monday 6th August 2012 the following road in Oberursel will be closed for the wine festival:

  • Eppsteiner Straße (between Ackergasse and Schulstraße, and between Weidengasse and Untere Marktplatzstraße)

There will be no stopping or parking allowed in the following streets:

  • Untere Marktplatzstraße
  • Marktplatz
  • Wiederholtstraße
  • Steinmühlenweg (between Altkönigstraße and the Rolls-Royce entrance)

The parking spaces in front of the Ferdinand-Balzer-Haus will not be available.

The Schlenkergasse will be temporarily made into a two-way street during this time.
