The wine festival is officially open

The wine festival was official opened on Friday, 5th August, 2016 by Mayor Hans-Georg Brum.

Opening the wine festival: Christian Peter, Nadine I., Hans-Georg Brum, Louisa Follrich, Sophie Egert, Tabea Klepper, Peter Seyffardt and Gerd Krämer.

13th Rheingau Wine Festival opened

The 13th Rheingau Wine Festival was official opened on Friday evening (2nd August, 2013) by Mayor Hans-Georg Brum accompanied by the Fountain Queen Annabel I.

With them were local visiting “royalty” Sabine Wagner, the Rheingau Wine Queen and Louisa Follrich, the Hattenheim Wine Queen.

Also visiting the festival on Friday evening were the Mayor an other visitors from the twin town of Rushmoor, along with visitors from Kusadasi in Turkey. [Read more…]

16 ways to save money

It’s crunch time this week in Oberursel, as first the finance committee and then the town council meet to approve the budget for 2013a budget with a deficit.

Over the past few weeks, the politicians in the town have been challenged to come up with ideas on how to save money as part of the “Haushaltssicherungskonzept” (the concept to balance the books), and there have also been discussions going on both on the town’s website and in Facebook.  These can have far-reaching consequences for the coming years in the town, as some savings may not be possible straight away.

So what suggestions did the politicians come up with?  Well yesterday the OBG – a local political group – put forward their suggestions, and in total they are proposing 26 amendments to the budgets, which I have grouped together here in 16 different points.

Market moved to Epinayplatz on Saturday

Epinayplatz in OberurselDue to the wine festival taking place on the Marktplatz, the market on Saturday, 4th August, 2012 will be held on the Epinayplatz instead.

 

Road closures and parking restrictions during the wine festival

From Thursday 2nd until Monday 6th August 2012 the following road in Oberursel will be closed for the wine festival:

  • Eppsteiner Straße (between Ackergasse and Schulstraße, and between Weidengasse and Untere Marktplatzstraße)

There will be no stopping or parking allowed in the following streets:

  • Untere Marktplatzstraße
  • Marktplatz
  • Wiederholtstraße
  • Steinmühlenweg (between Altkönigstraße and the Rolls-Royce entrance)

The parking spaces in front of the Ferdinand-Balzer-Haus will not be available.

The Schlenkergasse will be temporarily made into a two-way street during this time.
